You Think You've Got Snow?

Anchorage, AlaskaThe plows push all the snow in the cul-de-sac into the middle and the kids love it. They dig tunnels through the middle, build slides down the side and play Troll Soup on the top.

Bbbrrrrrrrrrr... As a child I would have loved that; now, no offense, I'm glad I don't live in Alaska. ;)

  2. That is so cool! I would love snow like that. As long as I don't have to drive with it.

  5. I remember when I was a kid, the shopping centers would get mountains like these . . .we LOVED THEM! They seemed HUGE to us then, I have since gone back and seen that MN must not be getting as much snow as it once did. ;-)
    Happy WW! :-)

We're getting a big snowstorm as we speak (or I should say as I type this). I don't think it will come to that height, but I have had my car buried in snow before, up in New England.

  8. That's a lot of snow! I'm very happy we've only had one snowstorm in Munich and that it all melted quickly, since snow is cold!

  11. Gosh... this brings back memories of trekking to the field and playing in monstrous drifts. Hollowing them out to make forts... digging tunnels/slides.

I sort of miss snow. Truly.

My friend is just outside of Anchorage right now (her hubby is in the military) and she told me how the snow never melts and they just push it aside.

She's a native of Texas and she can't believe all the snow...I told her to take some pictures!

    Troll soup...that's funny. :)

  17. I've seen a lot of piles like that lately. You can make great igloos out of those; just pour water over the outside first, to strengthen it.

  18. I'll never complain again. We just had a first storm of the season, and there is like 1 inch on the ground. LOL!

I can't imaging climbing to the top of that pile. I'd probably just roll off the other side!

Please educate children about the dangers of playing in and around snow piles near a street.
They can be hit or buried by a passing plow, or another vehicle that may not see them in
    time.

  36. I remember those snow piles. They were the best to play in as a kid. Of course by April they were so dirty and tightly packed that no one wanted to play in them. Ah, the memories!
