Everyone should have one of these. I think they're commonly called egg slicers and they work well for that but think outside the egg--this handy gadget is one of the greatest kitchen tools. Perfect for so many of your slicing needs.
Strawberries slice in perfect little segments. Bananas? Olives? Like a dream. Even Playdough might work if you had a preschooler who, like mine, likes to raid my gadget drawer for things to use with her clay. At least it woud be fun to try it and see what happens.

I really need one of those! It would save me so much time.
ReplyDeleteAnd my 3 yr old playdough fanatic would love to take it. He takes all my cookie cutters and makes him and his sister "cookies". Too bad my 14 month old really tries to eat them! LOL
Good idea I have one of those in a cupboard somewhere!
ReplyDeleteI would never have thought that would work for strawberries, I'm going to have to try it.
ReplyDeleteGood idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to use mine for mushrooms - I generally buy the biggest button mushrooms I can find because I'm lazy to slice them, so this will be perfect!
I've always wanted one of these but never could convince myself that it's one good use could justify the space it would take in my kitchen. Now that I see all the otehr uses, I just might have to make a run to the store. :)
ReplyDeleteI bet you got that pix from the Pampered Chef site, right? I have one of those here somewhere, being a defunct consultant, and they are wonderful. PLUS they come apart for easy cleaning.
ReplyDeleteEnough sales pitch - good tip! Mine's on Frugal Ice Packs - Instant Bandaid Magic!
What a great idea! i do use this to cut up fruit cocktail a little finer for my toddler, but never thought of using it for strawberries.
ReplyDeleteI'd get such a beatdown for bringing home another kitchen gadget!
ReplyDeleteHey! I have one of those egg thingies. I should try using it for other stuff. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea - I hate chopping!
ReplyDeleteWowo, I didn't think they were all that sturdy...thought they'd only cut soft eggs. Great to know!
ReplyDeleteThat does look handy!
ReplyDeleteI totally lost my Pampered Chef slicer to Play-Dough about seven years ago.
ReplyDeletei have been craving an egg slicer for a month or two, now. then i read about somebody thinking of getting one for this crazy bishop in a book called hyssop. and now you've posted about one: the rule of threes means, then, that despite the long talk about budgeting we've had in this house tonight, fate and the universe have decided (not me) that whatever else i do tomorrow, the day must end with me in possession of this gadget. thanks.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh! That's how they get strawberries to look like that!
ReplyDeleteWe''ve tried a number of things in ours - mostly as an impromptu science experiment...not strawberries though...
Yours must be of better quality than the one I used to have. I tried strawberries once and ruined it! It was a cheapo and somethings just aren't worth skimping on I guess
ReplyDeleteGreat tip! I love the play dough idea. I have heard it cuts kiwi like a dream!
ReplyDeleteNow THAT'S a good idea! I don't have one of those. Yet!
