Things That Win My Heart

I'm not a terribly complex person and I'm easily impressed--if you want my undying affection here is the map:

1. Fill my car with gas. Leaving me with an empty tank is cruel at best and life-threatening on a bad day. But fill 'er up and I'm yours forever.

2. Replace the toilet paper with a fresh roll. You wouldn't even have to wait for the old roll to run out--it's the act of replacing that is key.

3. Make the bed. Andrew does this frequently--though he could probably argue (if he weren't such a gentleman) that it's easier to make a bed when there's not a body in it.

4. Scrape off my car. This won't mean much to anyone living in Florida, but there's nothing to heat up a romance like a man willing to scrape off your icy windows and heat up your car when it's been sitting outside.

5. Put the dirty dishes into the dishwasher. That extra foot of traveling distance between the sink and the dishwasher is the path to enlightenment and total fulfillment. I promise.

6. Call me at lunch. Every day--or nearly every day I get my lunch time call. If that doesn't say "I love you" I don't know what does, especially when I know he could be catching up on the scores or his favorite blogs during that precious lunch hour.

7. Take me out Friday nights. By the time that day comes around I'm radioactive. I don't care if it's a movie, Quizno's or just browsing at Barnes and Noble, time away wins you big points.

8. Watch Sandra Bullock movies. When a man willingly sits through The Lakehouse or While You Were Sleeping--especially a second time--he's a keeper.

9. Read my blog. Then tell me you like it, even when I'm posting about a salad.

10. Be the "bad" guy once in a while. Parenthood is all about effectively utilizing the Good Cop/Bad Cop thing. Unfortunately I'm usually the Bad Cop. But when I can say "Just wait 'till your father gets home" and have it mean something, I'll love you forever.

11. Let me talk. And talk and talk and talk. Even when it's 11pm and you're dying to go to sleep. But you can't go to sleep, not yet . . .

12. Tell me that I'm your Trophy Wife. What more is there to say?

13. Play "Lava Monster" and "Weird Bunny" and "Harry Potter Soup" with my kids. And like it.

More about the Thursday Thirteen meme.

I love your list. Especially the Sandra Bullock movie item. I love her movies and any man who watches them with me, or even better, takes me to see them, wins my heart.

My TT is up on why I want snow.

Filling the car up with gas is a definite for me. That is one of the many tasks I HATE doing. Especially during the winter. *brrrr*

Thanks for visiting my TT.

That's a great list. I made my husband take me to the theatre to see "Two Weeks Notice" because it opened on my birthday. He slept through it and then denied it. That's the last time I made him take to a movie. I thrive on NetFlix. Oh, well . . . can't have everything.

I swear, this could have been my 13 for the week! Every single one I read, I kept nodding, and even pointing and talking at my monitor! You get it! Finally, someone gets it, thank you thank you... =)

This was a fabulous list!

I love those. Sandra Bullock movies. THAT was funny. I love it when my husband tells me what he liked about my blog. It makes me feel good that he is interested in ME, no matter if he thinks blogs are cool or not. LOVE the list!

I so agree with you! I have a wonderful man but I think I will copy and print your list and give it to him. Just as a hint that there is possible room for improvment... :-)
Happy TT!

I like your list. We are doing a marriage class at church right now, and lots of those things came up under romantic and some of the guys were surprised...go figure! I'll try to get a picture of my crazy, curly hair on my blog sometime. I hate pictures of myself (I'll have to put that on a TT sometime).

Have a super day!

How romantic =)
I´m smiling about the blogging part!
All the other things would win my heart, too. I guess I´d replace the Sandra Bullock movies by a German actor named "Till Schweiger" - most of the German guys like Sandra Bullock anyway but they prefer movies not produced in Germany and of course without Till Schweiger - and so does Frank =)

Great list! A guy could win my heart that way too.

What a great TT!

Very few men understand how little it takes to win us over. I'm with you on all of them... especially cleaning off the ice on the car. That to me is love! ;)

What a sweet list. I love having a full gas tank..I always let it go too low and then I worry about it. I love the talking one and the being the bad guy one. So true. I do wish Geo would read my blog though. If he had a blog, I would be constantly refreshing it.

I hope I've made it clear that my sweet husband does all of these things. This isn't a gripe list, it's a list of "why he's wonderful."

Great list. My husband repeatedly watches "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" with me, AND back when we hadn't even gotten married, he sat through 12 - count that - 12 hours of a 90210 marathon (I hate admitting how much I love that show, but I do).

Anonymous said...

Awwwww, that's so sweet! You know, it's the little things that really count, you know?

Happy TT!

Those are great, Michelle. I'm with you on everything but the Sandra Bullock.... I'm not a fan. Used to be, though.... :)

Every husband should have to read this... required reading for marital readiness....

I have to agree with your list and I love the "read my blog" line. I love it when Champs reads mine.

Oh, and one I would add is "write to me every now and again". I love that he buys me cards, but we just had the 9th anniversary of the day we met and he wrote me a lovely poem. Sometimes when I've had a hard day, I'll find a note on my steering wheel. It's those things that melt me every time.

My T13 is up and it isn't as good as yours!

I especially like 2 and 5, it only bugs me when I go back to the family home, as none of my brothers can seem to manage these little tasks :)

Oh, those are good things indeed. My husband took me to see The Holiday last night--his idea. Definitely a keeper. :)

GREAT blog!! Glad I happened upon it!

Can I borrow the "ways to win my heart" idea? Especially since I just wrote an entire post about being a blogging wallflower... and then accidentally deleted it?! (Kinda proved my point.)
