Tic Tac Toe on the Go

Tic Tac Toe on the GoAnyone else out there have a hard time throwing out useful tin boxes? They're so tiny and cute and versatile that I have a hard time ever getting rid of them--remember that Christmas gift idea I posted about making them into little paint boxes?

Well Tic Tac Toe in a Box is yours with just a little bit of white Contact paper and some buttons backed with magnets--you could also easily adjust the idea to be a bingo game if you used tiny pictures under clear Contact paper.

A nice little something to keep in your purse for times when you need a boredom buster on the road. A parent should always have a few great ideas in reserve for those emergencies, right?

  5. I never throw tins away...or plastic tubs, strawberry baskets, glass jars, coffee cans, paper towel tubes, cardboard boxes...it's a sickness really. Everyone else thinks I'm nuts, until they happen to need a container and voila! Container pack rat to the rescue!

  7. You are so clever!

I always try to keep a toy or two in my purse. You never know when you'll need it.

  10. That is a BRILLIANT idea, although I bet it involves a glue gun, getting the button onto the magnet.

  11. Actually, I used the sticky-backed magnetic strips you can cut to fit though that's only because I was out of the other kind. The best way to do it is to get some plain round magnets in the craft section of Walmart and then use some kind of cement or super glue to glue them--that'll hold the best. I wouldn't mess with the hot glue at all.

My kids love tic-tac-toe! This would be a fun project for them to make.

I have everything but the tins. Guess I'll have to buy some dark chocolate Altoids I've been wanting. (at least I think that's what they are)

  14. Well I was wondering what to do with a little tin box I have, that I just couldn't throw away. Now I know!

Found your blog thru Metropolitan Mama. Alaska is our newest fascination, ever since my son and I discovered the show "Tougher in Alaska". We were instantly hooked. Now I am happy to have found your blog about "Motherhood in Alaska"!

Brilliant!!! I am just amazed at the incredible creativity given to some (and the incredible LACK given to me!!).

Of course I can't think of a single thing (aside from Altoids) that comes in a tin. Hm.....

  28. A perfect use for Altoids containers! And at the light speed in which we eat those, we could make stocking stuffers for everyone by THIS Christmas.
