Enzie Shamiri and World Market Portraits

Enzie Shamiri and World Market PortraitsIt's finished! It's finished! Lillian's portrait is done--and you can probably tell that I'm jumping up and down.

Back in May I wrote about Enzie Shamiri at World Market Portraits, the artist who was painting Lillian's oil portrait and every couple of days I've gone to check her blog to see what progress has been made.

Well it's done! Enzie's posted pictures for each step along the way and it's been so fun to see the way things have developed and now that she's finished she's compiled the whole project into one post that you can see here.

In between updates on Lily's picture there have been all sorts of interesting posts about portraiture--the most recent to have my attention was this one on the Male Portrait. You'll have to click through to see what I mean but it kind of shows you what things might look like if Mr. Darcy ever came back into the pages of GQ.

Anyway, I've so enjoyed getting to know Enzie through this whole process and am thrilled with the results--I know the perfect place where we'll hang the picture.

  1. What a beautiful protrait! Really enjoyed seeing the evolution of the painting at Enzie's site - she certainly captured Lily's sweet expression. So much attention to the details - the background, her striped dress, the candy jars - amazing!

Tremendous portait - I think the contrasts, stripes, red variations.....and of course the subject, really make it special.

What a pretty picture. It reminds me of the early 19th century American primitive portraits, except that the subject is smiling.

I recently added your blog to my reader. I enjoy your writing and look forward to reading your blog posts.

I have a knack for stick figures. I don't think I'm going to be able to build a business off it though. :-)

  38. that's wonderful. I admire the painters so much. I never got too much into the painting side of portraiture and dabbled in watercolor in college. But now I love pencil for my own work.

I'm totally fascinated with people that can make the paintings come alive like that. It truly is a completely different process that pencil drawings.
