Really?

I got my latest Athleta catalog yesterday. Yes, I like working out (even more if I've got spiffy workout clothes) and yes I do a bit of yoga here and there but when I got to this picture my mouth fell open.
Are they kidding me?? Do they really think that this is going to get me to buy their clothes? All I can think about is the feeling of tearing and ripping and intense pain.  It totally took me out of the spending-money-on-workout-clothes mode. Completely.

My friend and I spent a good 20 minuted trying to figure out how to get into that pose. We didn't succeed. And I work out more if my clothes are fancy too, at least that is my rationalization to my husband.

I'm pretty sure that if you buy that outfit, you would be able to do that pose.

I'll have you know I just tried that, and my hamstrings are no longer speaking to me.

I know what you're saying, but for some odd reason, those crazy Athleta poses make me WANT to buy their clothes so I can work out and do that. (And this from a lady who had a baby 6 months ago.)

I think I just like to live in my Athleta fantasy world.

P.S. I just tried it. The flexibility is no problem. It's my lack of arm strength. Yep.

That's funny I look at that and think, "Gee I really wish I were that flexible." Inspires me to practice more, stretch more.

She has got to have serious balance. My concern would be falling over backward and getting a concusion! She looks like she'd do well in Cirq Du Soleil (or however you spell it)! LOL

That's not yoga, that's contortionism!

With Photoshop even I could get into that pose.

That photo is making me wonder if I can do that pose. I doubt it, but now I want to try.

But it's so cool that their models are actually athletic! And their clothes--I've only looked at a catalog, never bought anything from them--as I'm definitely NOT the athletic person.

I do think her "position/pose/move" is incredible!

And people say that yoga doesn't build strong muscles. You have to be strong to do that, I'll tell you! My step mom is a yoga instructor, and she's buff. ;) (Which has nothing to do with your point, but I just remember seeing some people commenting on some hollywood star or another, that she couldn't possibly have the shoulders and arms that she has by only doing yoga, as she claimed. My thought was, not doing yoga like I do it, which is a few downward dogs and sun salutations, but if you're serious, it can make you pretty buff. And clearly you have to be serious to get in a pose like that.)

What they don't tell you is that these clothes give you supernatural powers. The second you put them on, voila! You can do that exact same pose, no sweat. :) It's magic.

I think I'll try that. Six months pregnant. AFTER my husband buys me a new workout wardrobe. :)
