A Bathtub Boticelli

Have a toddler around the house? The perfect cure for afternoon boredom takes nothing more than a paintbrush, and three puddles of paint.

Strip them down to the diaper, pull out the washable poster paint and let them go to town. Once they're done just throw away the diaper and hose everything down. Good clean fun.

Note of caution: If you have tile and grout rather than a formed tub (as you see in the picture) you may want to test the paint first to make sure it doesn't stain.

Thank you for this tip! I have a formed tub too so I'll give it a try. My two daughters will LOVE it!

I avoid painting at times because I hate the cleanup and mess. I will have to try this!

Great idea! One time I let the kids paint the outside of the living room window. We just hosed it off after the neighbors had a chance to enjoy the artwork.

Actually the whole thing is a very long story and it didn't happen out of the kindness of my heart like your project did!

That is so cute, what a great idea! I have tile and grout... my 5 yr old ( when she was 4) used to use "bath time finger paints", but it did stain the grout. I compained one day, so she decided that from then on she would scrub the grout for me afterwards.

Hmmm, maybe I should have let her paint the whole shower area?

I had a friend who liked to set her toddler up on nice days outside with paper and pudding, and let her kid finger paint with it. Then she'd strip him down and let him run through the sprinkler. :D

I love the picture! Too funny! That is a great tip. We do the outdoors thing during the spring/summer, but this would be great in the winter months. Thanks for the idea!

That sounds like a lot of fun.

I think I have rainbow-colored grout in my future -- I'm never smart/patient enough to test the paint first before letting the little ones at it.

I have some bathtub paints that I haven't pulled out becuase I fear the carnage. The problem is that I'm quite sure the twins won't manage to contain themself and the paint in the tub -- the whole bathroom will end up with a bit of extra color, and perhaps some other rooms as well.

wow, that sounds just perfect for us except we have tile. I'll have to test it out first.

GREAT idea! My kiddos would totally go for that.

I actually tried this and ended up with art on my walls for the next 3 months. My boy was too young to get the concept of acceptable painting on walls and not acceptable painting on walls.

I wish I had tried it when he was older though, because he had a BALL.

Great tip! My kids had bathtub soap paints once, but they didn't work too well. I bet they'd love this. Thanks!

This is a great tip but I just can't see myself doing it. I look at the picture and think- ugh. Im going to have to clean that up. My poor deprived kid..

I love this idea. I may have to try it when I need to distract the children. I have some bath/soap paints, but they don't encourage much painting.

That was one of the presents I gave the kids this year, from Baby Einsteins. It's a combo soap and paint, so it washes right off! I'll have to remember about the diaper for the baby when she gets a little older, just put her in the tub and let her get creative!!
Thanks for the tip!

I remember my kids using shaving cream in the tub. Love the paint idea!

I have also read that shaving cream and a little food colouring is a ton of fun (it is on our to try list!)

I adore the creative freedom that this allows!

Ooohh, not sure if I could do this. Not anymore, with three in the tub. When I just had two, I did let them paint on the sliding back door. Beautiful when the sun shone through and easily removed. :)
