A Moment with Cain/Kane

moose"Ding dong ding dong ding dong" goes the bell at 8pm.

"Hi Cain," I say.

"Be careful," Cain says. "There's a moose down the street."

"Oh," I say. "Thanks, I'll remember that."

He smiles and leans in a little closer, "But don't look 'im in the eye!"

"Excuse me?"

"Don't look him in the eye, he's a teenager moose and he's all by himself."

"Thanks, I'll remember that. See you tomorrow Cain."

"Bye."

HA! As a child of Alaska myself, it's funny to hear the wisdom of Alaskan children, who may not know how to tell when an apricot is ripe and ready to pick, but they sure know not to mess with a teenager moose...or a bull moose in season, or a mother moose with her calf, for that matter. :)

I say play it safe, and don't look teenagers of ANY kind in the eye. That's my motto (until #1 turns 13 anyhow.)

I try my best to stay clear of mooses. ;-)

Wise young man, even if he does have an awfully odd name...

I hope you followed his advice :)!!

I noticed you told him you would see him tomorrow - I suppose his visits are becoming a daily part of life!

What a cutie. And smart. I imagine teenage mooses (meese?) are rather large. They get the right of way...

So did you run into the moose? Haha, I visited about 10 years ago and was scared out of my wits when a huge moose came out from the brush and tried to grab my brother's hat with its mouth. We ran like crazy (my dad even caught a funny picture), and luckily our screaming and running scared it off
