Laundry on the Line

Laundry on the LineOne of my favorite things about summer is being able to hang out my laundry. Besides saving oodles on our gas bill and keeping clothes white naturally it makes the sheets smell so good.

I find it completely therapeutic to go out to the line and hang clothes when the sun is shining and there's a light breeze. There will be clothes lines in heaven, I'm sure of it--though probably no stains.

  4. I used to hang our clothes and sheets out. Our family's allergies have put an end to that, unfortunately. Something about sleeping on sheets with pollen all over them...

I wish I had a clothesline at the house we are out now - we used to...love laundry out on the line.

  6. You're right about that! I'd have a clothesline in my backyard, but our homeowners association won't allow them. I CAN'T WAIT until we can move to a house with some land and NO HOA. There it is. My dream.

  7. That's one of my favorite things to do, too ~ good way to steal a few minutes of alone time :-)

  8. In response to fiddledeedee's comment ~ I think I might hang my clothes just to spite. I cannot stand HOA's that don't allow clotheslines. Junk cars on the front lawn, I can understand how that's a problem. But not something as lovely as a sheet blowing in the breeze.

I don't know why but we don't have a clothes line in our yard. Your photo reminds me of a detergent commercial!

I love hanging laundry out. There's no greater feeling than slipping into bed in fresh sheets from the laundry line.

  14. I have the allergy problem. Some day I hope to not be allergic to nature anymore so I can enjoy things like hanging the laundry out on the line.

  15. I should hang my clothes more often...I mean they would dry in seconds in this heat!

  16. What is it that makes white sheets hanging on an outdoor clothes line so relaxing? I mean, seriously.. it's laundry. There's nothing relaxing about laundry. And then you look at those white sheets blowing in the wind, and you're... relaxed.

I'm assuming the air in Alaska smells better than the air in the four states that I've lived in... I think clothes dried outside smell funny. That said, I do have a hyper-smelling nose. Maybe that's my problem.

  20. I really like hanging out our laundry but enjoy it so much better when it's not quite so hot. Loverly smell!

  21. I love that picture. I grew up in the country and my mom LOVED to hang clothes out on the line. Of course as a kid I did not appreciate it. ;)

Although I'm in the suburbs now I have a huge retro wooden drying rack (thanks to my mom) and I love to hang things on it. I love the sun drenched smell!
