Walruses Really Aren't That Attractive

Walrus WrinklesGrace came up behind me and put her hand on my shoulder. I patted it and said with a motherly affection, "Your skin is so soft!"

"Well your skin is soft too," She said politely.

"Oh thanks," I said with a smile, "It may be, but mine is soft plus wrinkles."

Always my little optimist, Grace said adoringly and sincerely, "Oh wrinkles just give you extra insulation!"

What? So are we talking an elephant or a walrus here? I'm seeing my skin in a whole new light.

And why hasn't Clinique tackled this brilliant new marketing strategy? "Love your wrinkles--they'll keep you warm!"

Sigh. Thanks, honey.

The last time I checked, Walrus's were not leggy blonds with mad homemaking skills.

My husband is fond of saying that he has a insulating blubber layer.

It was just a given that eventually I'd start calling him The Walrus.

Kookookachoo, baby.

Haha, one time I was complaining about my stretch marks, and my boyfriend said: "I like them, they feel so nice!"

WTF? That's a nice look at it though...but still...WTF?

I think Walruses are adorable! I often wonder as I look at my 78 year old aunt, at what point will I look in the mirror and be so wrinkled. Guess it happens gradually! That is too funny. What a precious kid!

Hee hee. You need to take that child to Florida. (Plenty of wrinkles/Not much call for insulation.)

Because Clinique would then be out of a job.

I thin Grace and The Boy are related some where along the lines... Hey that would make us sisters in a way! I like that thought very much!

My daughter asked me "why do you have lines on your forehead" and that totally made me feel so old.

Wrinkles are my biggest concern right now. I guess this should make me feel better, right?

Kids really have a way of building our self concepts don't they?

I guess the same could be said about cellulite, then, right?

...Then why am I so cold right now?!

Next time I'm chilly, I'm going to rub my wrinkles and tell them to get working!

Aren't children so wonderfully honest of what they perceive? Sigh...helps to keep us humble I guess. =)

hehe I never thought of the warmth factor!

Someone should ask the pug if he feels warmer.

That's an idea.

Ha! Michelle, I had seen this in bloglines but hadn't yet read it. I had NO idea "this" was where you were going!!

Too, too funny!

How old is Grace? What an "encouraging" response!!

Kids always make you feel great - one of mine told me once "mommy, you have a BIG tummy." Good thing I love them...
