This Is Me Keepsake Journal Giveaway

This Is Me: A Kid's First Keepsake JournalThis latest product I have for you has caused a bit of excitement around here. The This Is Me--a Kid's First Keepsake Journal is specially made for helping your child record their experiences and it's really a fun little notebook.

Lillian brings hers out every morning now and wants to fill in more of the pages. The first section has themes such as "Pets," "Sports," "Friends" and "Family" where children can check boxes next to the activities they like, draw pictures of themselves with their favorite pet or write why they love their best friend or siblings.

This Is Me: A Kid's First Keepsake JournalIf you look at the picture to the right Lily drew her hair at different stages of tidiness on the hair page where it says, "My hair . . . when I wake up . . . when it's combed . . . when it's fancy . . . in my dreams" with little places for her to illustrate her hair styles.

This Is Me: A Kid's First Keepsake JournalThere are pages devoted to birthdays and holidays where they can glue photographs or draw pictures of the events and nice fat lines where they can record their thoughts. The last section has pages with places for photographs and lines for personal thoughts.

There's a few things that I like about this. First, that as a five year-old Lillian is just learning to write and this is a perfect way to get her to practice her penmanship. At first I would write out the words for her to copy down but then I started encouraging her to write things as best she could on her own phonetically and I like that even better. I think it's adorable to read about her pet "gegow" that she found in Florida rather than the orthographically upright "gecko" that I would have given her. I love her plans to "rid her tow weel bik" this summer rather than her "two wheeled bike."

This Is Me: A Kid's First Keepsake JournalSecond, I like the format which focuses on a year of activities. Sure you can take as long as you want to fill it out but it works well for capturing one year of life. Then I also like that it's high quality. The pages feel thick and sturdy and according to what I've been told if you use acid-free pens and glue (easily found at most stores) then the journal should last forever.

You even can go to the This Is Me website gallery to see what other children have done and enter your child's self-portrait in a monthly contest to win a journal.

I have here today, thanks to the publisher, two copies of the This Is Me Keepsake Journal to give away--so don't forget to go to the entry form page link below. If you leave me a comment here that's wonderful but I'm sorry it won't count as an entry so be sure to follow the directions.

Here's how to win:

Before 12 am Monday go to the giveaway entry form on this page and enter your name and email. I will pick one of the names at random, contact the winner via their email and publish the winner's first name and home town in next Tuesday's post. See the bottom of the entry form for more details.

This giveaway is open to all readers so good luck!

I entered, even though I never win anything. My daughter would love it.

Just FYI for another 'guaranteed' freebie, Barnes and Noble has a way for kids to get a free book through a very cool summer reading challenge...

Got an easy green soup recipe, right from Egypt, as well as the best straight forward easy way to make authentic tahine salad as it was served 50 years ago.
