The Fine Art of Family and Outdoor Adventure Kid Co. Giveaway

Silver Lockets from The Fine Art of Family by Monica Rich KosannI'm doubling up the giveaways today because I couldn't wait any longer to mention these stores to you. First, The Fine Art of Family is a beautiful shop specializing in heirloom jewelry and accessories that are just breathtaking.

I've always wanted a locket and now I realize why I haven't had yet got one--it's because I've been waiting for these. Designed by Monica Rich Kosann these lockets are really the most beautiful I've ever seen. I know that sounds like an exaggeration or that I'm overdosing on superlatives but really, they're gorgeous. Lockets are one of those old fashioned delights and Kosann's unique designs update the look for today in a way that maintains the sentiment of the locket.

I don't have room for all the pictures I'd show you, you'll just have to click through and look for yourself but besides the varieties of lockets for both necklaces and bracelets The Fine Art of Family has frames, boxes and other beautiful accessories. The look of the silver and the beauty of Kosann's pieces in many ways reminds me of my favorites in the Tiffany & Co. collection but honestly? I think The Fine Art of Family's lockets even surpass this famous store.

Image Case on Silk Cord from the Fine Art of Family by Monica Rich KosannTheir prices are serious enough to make this more than a weekend impulse buy but everyone has events where a gift like this makes a lasting impression--anniversaries, Mother's Day, birthdays, graduations. You'll need to keep this site bookmarked for a time like that.

This weekend's first winner will have the privilege of owning their own piece, an image case on a silk cord, that measures 1 inch long on a 38 inch cord. You'll love it! I'm so jealous!

Adventure Suit from Outdoor Adventure Kid CompanyBut wait, there's more! As if that wasn't wonderful enough wait until you hear about The Outdoor Adventure Kid Company. I wish I'd known about these guys years ago because they take care of kids who like to get dirty. They carry several items of outdoor kid gear including the Adventure Suit you see pictured at right made to keep the wet and dirt and muck off kids so they can stay out as long as you'll let them.

Oh how I wish my kids had had these--it would have made camping trips a breeze (I remember all those years where my mom would pack two or three sets of clothes for each day of camping knowing we'd get wet and filthy before noon). The suits zip up the side and are waterproof polyester with taped seams. I bet it even protects against radiation--kidding. But it looks that good.

At $34.99 (on sale right now) it's a good deal and goes up to size 6/7.

Outdoor Adventure Co. also makes serious kid rain boots, snow gear and rain pants (a very good buy at $12.99, they fit right over your regular pants). But the thing that I'm going to get? The thing that will assure me the title of World's Coolest Mom? They sell bows and arrows. My boys have been dying for a bow (they've been trying unsuccessfully to make their own) and it's hard to find one that will ship to Alaska for a price I can afford. These appear to be what I've been looking for--I'll have to fill you in later if they live up to my hopes.

Today's second winner will get to pick out their own Adventure Suit for their favorite little adventurer along with a pair of Oaki zip rain boots to accompany it. Oh that's going to be great! Good luck to all!

Here's how to win:

Before 12 am Monday go to the giveaway entry form on this page and enter your name and email. I will pick one of the names at random, contact the winner via their email and publish the winner's first name and home town in next Tuesday's post. See the bottom of the entry form for more details.

This giveaway is open to all readers so good luck!

Make a bow? That's easy! During one year of extreme boredom, our boys constructed bows using wide craft sticks, duct tape, and fishing line. They then made arrows (unpointed kind) out of more craft sticks (narrow) and duct tape. Did they work? Well enough to cost me 400 dollars to repair our landlady's ugly oil painting that became an inadvertent target...

If you want pictures, I'll try to find one for you.

Do they make those suits for grown ups? Seriously--I could go from being "the Great Pumpkin" at work right to being a "smurf"--and possibly skip the whole "Rubber Duckie" thing.

You've kidding!!, right?

$795 DOLLARS!!

For platinum - maybe, for silver - a big miss.

Here's a leading silver jewelry retailer - Brighton's, version of this same concept.

I have this photo locket from Brighton, and it is beautiful front and back. At $56 dollars it's a little easier to swallow.
