Compassion International is an organization that works around the world to fight poverty, you may have heard of it last year when they organized a group of media people and bloggers to go to Uganda and write about the relief efforts they saw, one of whom was Shannon Lowe from Rocks in My Dryer who gave us wonderful stories of her time in Africa.
Well they're doing it again and I wanted to mention that you can look forward to more stories as Compassion International takes another group of writers to the Dominican Republic November 2-7, 2008 to record what's happening there. I was asked to attend but through scheduling conflicts I had to decline so the least I can do is to put you wise as to what you can expect from the other bloggers attending. Who knows, maybe I can get lucky next year and get another invitation to join them then?
The Pioneer Woman, 5 Minutes for Mom, Owlhaven and Big Mama are a few of the quality blogs that will be represented this time around which I'd encourage you to read as they report on their unique assignment. You might even consider donating to Compassion International's efforts--there are so many people in so many organizations around the world doing their part to help others it's a pleasure to be able to give them a little help in their efforts.

Wow - this is the first time I've heard of that organization. I'll be sure to take a look!
I sponsored a child in Uganda after following BooMama's Compassion trip. It is a wonderful organisation, and I have been so impressed by them.
Hope you get another chance to go - what an awesome experience that would be.
Wow, that's a nice experience! I used to have a Compassion child and quit, since I was a college student and couldn't continue. May be nice to get re-connected again.
This looks like it will be an incredible experience. I haven't heard of Compassion International before your post...I will definitely keep tabs on these sites.
Awesome. Thanks for giving Compassion a plug. They are a great organization, and one's money goes right where they say it does, which is kind of rare among some other NGO's. They definitely allow others to hold them accountable, and they act with integrity in all they do. I've seen that firsthand.
I think their idea of getting the well-known bloggers involved is a brilliant way to spread their mission. And it think it's great that bloggers like you are willing to help them out. Way to go!
Thanks for the heads up! That will be wonderful to follow.
We'll miss you in the DR.
Thanks for blogging about Compassion.

Compassion Bloggers
So you were another blogger Shaun set his sights on, eh?
As I said to Big Mama, Compassion knows their stuff. He chose well when he chose you -- even if you didn't get to go.
Maybe next year. You would be an asset.
