Pilgrim Hats You Can Feast On

Thanksgiving Pilgrim Hat TreatsEach Thanksgiving I let the kids and I make up little treats to snack on while they're waiting for dinner to be ready and these little hats are a great way to keep small hands busy and out of the olives.

With a ginger snap on the bottom and an upside-down miniature-sized Reese's peanut butter cup on the top (glued together with a dot of frosting) you've got a holiday treat that's probably much more indulgent than the Pilgrims would ever have allowed. It's a Thanksgiving irony!

I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere about eating your hat but I'm too slow to figure it out right now.

those look just too tempting...how will they eat the turkey when these are available?

I've been making these for years - they are a huge hit with my family - with a slight variation - I use a chocolate wafer cookie instead of a ginger snap. Nabisco makes the chocolate wafer cookies ... not always easy to find though. Thanks for the reminder to start looking now!

At first glance I thought they were cupcakes on top but Reese's peanut butter cup - as my three year old would say sliiiieeerrrrrp as she wipes her tongue across her lips!

They also look adorable. Did you bake the ginger snaps or make them?

I'm not hosting Thanksgiving this year, so I can totally do something like this with the kidlets. They'll love it. Great idea!

These look a lot easier than the turkeys I make out of oreos and candy corn. I love ginger snaps.

What a great idea!

Thanksgiving is one holiday that I don't really have any activities for the kids, other than making the place cards for the table. They will love these!

Those are an adorable idea. We use those chocolate covered pringles and put a rollos on top and you have the perfect cowboy hat. ;)

This is a FANTASTIC idea, Michelle! We are celebrating Thanksgiving at a rather child-unfriendly house, so I'm scrambling to find LOTS of activities to keep my kids out of trouble. This is perfect!

These look perfect for the large family Thanksgiving I'm hosting this year. The kids are going to love them! Thanks Michelle!

we don't have reeses here. ok well, maybe in some shop somewhere with imports and i'm guessing they'd cost a pretty penny but i've never been on the hunt for them. this makes me miss reeses and all the wonderful sweets to make with them. yum!
i'm pretty sure i'd also be sick from devouring those before i ever ate the turkey dinner. maybe it's a good thing we don't have those here? :)

Fantastic! And, of course, Reese's are my favs and should be used often during the holidays. The Pilgrims would have wanted it that way....

Blessings!

These look yummy! You should know, however, that the Pilgrim's first Thanksgiving involved THREE STRAIGHT DAYS of feasting and games. Those folks didn't have a problem with indulgence when it was the proper time. They'd probably gobble these down!

Just the homeschooler in me coming out with that tidbit of info...LOL.

For those of you that want peanut butter free; You can use chocolate dipped marshmallows. I just made them tonight. They are fabulous. You can see them on my blog. I will also be making these as I love peanut butter cups.
