December's Write-Away Contest

Merry Mom from Peace Love MomI realize that everyone out there doesn't live in Alaska. In fact you don't all live in cold climates but most of you can relate to being cold right? You understand what it's like to shiver and shake which is why for this month's Write-Away topic I want to read your posts about "keeping warm."

Got it? The topic is keeping warm and even if you're living in Hawaii among the palm trees you probably can still imagine what it's like for me between October and April and hopefully that will inspire you enough to enter. Handle the topic literally or metaphorically I don't care but cold it must be. Good luck.

Going along with this our prize for the month is provided by Peace Love Mom, the site that brings you hip and hot t-shirts and if you're not a mother perhaps you know one who would love this prize should you happen to charm our judge with your prose.

So with all your warm thoughts Peace Love Mom will offer one of their cozy thermal tops to the winner so she (or he) can think warm fuzzy thoughts all winter long.

Our stunning guest judge is the lovely Robin from Penseive who besides having wonderful fashion sense has a fun blog that you all should be reading. Go say hi!

Fun fun fun. Here's how you can enter:

1. Write a post or find one in your archives on the theme of "Keep Warm" email your post's permalink to me at scribbit at gmail.com. Hurry hurry because there's not a lot of time this month. The permalink is the URL of the individual post--not the URL of your blog--usually found by clicking on the post title or time stamp and copying the URL that appears in the address field. I will accept entries through Thursday December 18th. If you fail to meet the December 18th deadline I will still happily publish your link with the list of entries but it will not be judged. I reserve the right to reject submissions if they fail to meet the topic or if they contain objectionable content.

2. Publish a link to the contest page here at Scribbit in either your entry post or in a separate post. I'm not picky how you do this, just give the contest a little mention as a courtesy and nod back. Don't stress over it because I won't.

3. Check back here on Tuesday December 23rd when I will post a complete list of the entries along with the Write-Away Winner and three Honorable Mentions.

4. Please remember: I will list the entries along with a small teaser for each. Just the first sentence or two of each post to give people an idea what they might expect if they should be so bold as to click on the entry. This would suggest that your opening sentence might be particularly important. Just to warn you.

Also, please be aware that while you are welcome to include graphics or photographs with your entries the judge will only see the text of your post. No links, no pictures, no name of your blog. While visual posts are always beautiful to see on your blog I will only send the text to the judge and your entry will not be able to rely on visuals to influence her judgment.

I'm sorry if this makes it difficult, there are some amazing photographers out there, but it is a writing contest and I'd like to keep things focused on words.

As always, all featured winners will get to take home this attractive Write-Away Winner button which he or she may display in their side bar if they wish.

The Write-Away Contest Hosted by ScribbitI look forward to reading your entries, so warm up those pencils and get writing!

Congratulations to our Judy from Erie, Pennsylvania who has won her very own pair of Joe's Jeans--not jeans that were once owned by Joe, but Joe's Jeans. She's going to love them! And if you haven't already you can still purchase your own pair and get 25% off at checkout by using the coupon code "joesfriends." Yes, you too can be one of Joe's friends.

Don't forget there's more giveaways every day this week, so keep checking in!

Am I completely dense or is the heat down here in Australia getting to me? The topic is 'Keeping Warm' right? Do I *also* have to tie in the 'thanksgiving' and 'starts with F' thing? Haven't done this before! Not that you can tell or anything!

Although, by virtue of my location, I reckon I've already scored the 'keeping warm' part. Snow at Christmas looks DIVINE, btw...

Cheers,
Lizzie

Way to represent Erie, PA, Judy! That's my hometown.

Sorry folks, I did the cut and paste move on last month's post to announce the topic and obviously missed it--thanks!

The Queen was quite disturbed by the headless model wearing the shirt. She wants to know what her name is and why they cut off her head.

I'm not sure what's more fun: brainstorming ideas for a post or reading the final entries!

Now here's a topic I can wrap my always-cold arms around! Hoping I can come up with something worthwhile. I know you'll get lots of great entries.

Fun topic! Reminds me of my time in Maryland.

Yay, I found it... I was anxious to see the topic for this month. I haven't written anything worthwhile in so long. :( Maybe this will get the juices flowing.

Okay, I'm in...

(I love that you do this, by the way)

I looked through your rules. Nothing said about more than one entry or bad poetry. So...
