Alaska by Air

Alaska By AirI haven't done any Wordless Wednesday posts in a while and I took this picture back in October when I was flying back into Anchorage from Los Angeles. I guess I just felt like posting it today, it seems so pretty.

So beautiful! I have to make it up there some day, I have heard so many amazing things and seen enough photographic evidence to warrant a visit!

I love Alaska by air. We've only gone up in the late spring and summer but there always has been a lot of snow on the mountains - and glaciers of course. It's a beautiful flight from the lower 48.

It looks too pretty to be real- almost like one of those models they do for movies. I've never been to Alaska, but I would love to visit and see its beauty.

Beautiful picture.

Oh, it's lovely! I love mountains from the air. This picture reminds me of my year in Washington State. I miss the NW.

Gorgeous. I can't resist taking pictures from the air either, especially sunrises/sunsets.

It is a lovely photo. I also am always amazed to see the many lines left by passing airplanes that criss cross the sky.

Ah a window seat! Well planned.

Picturesque moments rarely repeat themselves. Thanks for sharing the moment you captured while flying the friendly skies.

That is an amazing picture! I will be sure NOT to show this to my husband, because he will be so jealous. He really really wants to visit Alaska. Someday.

Wow that's beautiful. My husband and I are considering buying a vacation home up there. I've never experienced that type of climate. We'd like to come up there in the summer/fall and retreat back here to Texas for our mild winters. Email me at renee@taug.net if you'd like; I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I have a dream of going on an Alaskan cruise to see exactly what is in your beautiful photo.

I love the picture! I have loved reading about the freeze festival, too. I love all your Alaska posts, I guess, because it is something so different and really cool.

One of my strongest memories from flying into and out of Fairbanks as a kid was flying over the top of Mt. McKinley. If I could draw, I would try to draw out what I remember seeing out of my teeny airplane window. It was gorgeous.

That's a great shot!

That is an amazing picture. So hauntingly beautiful with all its gray and white.

Okay, was this bit of photo sharing a bit of self-distraction from what may have otherwise been a "who would want to live up here on a day like this!" screed? We go from near-30 below to 30+ above with one day of decent skiing squeezed in the middle. Your restraint is commendable.

That is so majestic and beautiful!

Ooh so pretty in a grayish, cool color! Some of my favorite pictures are the ones we took in Alaska 5 years ago. I can't wait to come back!

That is beautiful, but my goodness it makes me shiver. Of course, it's 8 degrees here and snowing, which is fairly unusual for us, so that may be part of the problem.

It certainly is beautiful, but it makes me glad that I live here in sunny AZ. I prefer to *visit* those snowy, wintery places. :)
