Fleece Pants Are a Little Bit of Heaven

Women's Fleece Pants from REII have to put a disclaimer on this post to say that in no way has REI contacted me about writing this (though boy if they ever wanted a spokeswoman I'd be very open to any proposals they cared to send my way--did you hear that REI? VERY open!)

Anyway, you've heard me whine and moan about how cold it was around and after Christmas. In fact, it was cold enough that on Sunday I brought a pair of those little hand warmer packets in with me to church to be able to keep my toes warm during the service. I'm not sure why but the older I get the harder it is for me to keep my body temperature up. I am ALWAYS cold.

At any rate, my dear husband--who feels it's in his best interest to keep me as warm as possible--decided to take matters into his own hands by outfitting me properly and he went to his beloved REI online and found the pair of pants you see above. Now before you turn away in boredom let me tell you never in all my life have I ever had a pair of pants bring such happiness. These, dear friends, are not just any old pair of pants. They are FLEECE pants.

The kind of microfiber stuff that is toasty enough to keep me warm and happy and I have been deeply in love ever since they showed up on my doorstep. I like them because not only are they warm but that microfiber isn't bulky like most fleece, it's very smooth and soft, and then they're tall enough for my huge long legs. They are officially my new comfy clothes and with that one simple click Andrew scored enormous points.

It's not often one has the opportunity to eulogize on one's pants but I do have to point out that what else is a blog for if not to praise one's casual wear?

The only possible complaint I could have is that when I went to write this post and share my good news I discovered that they're on clearance for about 60% off. That's right--they're normally $42 but now they're marked down to $16.

They say money can't buy happiness but I'd make an exception in this case.

hehe Fleece pants are a must in the cold! Great sale too!

So, how many pairs did you buy at that clearance price?! :)

I've been living in my fleece pants the last two weeks, using my injured knee as an excuse . . . I also love fleece pants.

I'm freezing so I went to check the pants out but they're no longer available. :-(

What a great deal. I have the opposite problem, the older I get the warmer I seem to get. It drives me crazy! I'm glad you were able to get something to help you stay warm. Today, I could have used a pair of those, we're at -12. COLD!

Well you had me all excited for a minute. First, I hate being cold and second, I hate paying full price for anything. I headed over to buy me a pair and their sold out. Darn!

I know this is random but I'm a person who runs cold too (which is odd for being in Dallas) and recently found out my thyroid isn't working. Being cold all the time or finding it difficult to stay warm is a symptom of that. Of course you are living in Alaska, in winter, so it could just be it's really crazy cold outside. But, I'm just saying. Think about it.

I clicked the link. It said: We're sorry, the REI Cabin Fever Fleece Pants - Women's Long is unavailable.

sigh.

But it's okay. They probably didn't come in expandable maternity waist.

Jan Ross said...

Yep. I also was excited about sleeping/lounging pants that might actually be long enough for my long legs, but they are sold out. How annoying is that!!!

I love fleece pants! I am not as tall as you, but often have a problem with them shrinking after washing and being too short. I am glad to hear that these were tall enough for you and therefore should be for me, too! Unfortunately, they are out of my size. I'll have to store this away for another time.

Ahh, REI. Now there's a store I could shop at every day and still want more. I have a pair of their fleece pants and love love them. I wear them skiing on cold days, and I can see why you wax eloquent about them.

I have a pair of those too! I Loooooooooove them and it's not nearly as cold here as it is in Alaska :)

How nice is that? Warm fleece pants that really keep you warm! Good job, Andrew!

Oh. Saw the weather for Anchorage, AK today. Apparently you're having a heat wave . . . you're going to be very close to our Louisiana temps. Your hi-40, ours 45; your lo-30, ours 26. Crazeeze weathereeze everywheres. It's probably all that Global Warming stuff, don't you suppose?

Jennifer said...

They look so cute just sitting there all nice, straight and skinny on your blog.

But what about on a under 5 foot body with a very slight touch of round ? :)

Let me rephrase that...are they clingy ? :)

Pencil Writer- the weather is crazy, isn't it?! It was 8 (!!!) degrees here last night in Northern AL!

Fleece pants are wonderful for cold weather (They are official mom wear as I am concerned!).

Pencil Writer--Oh you're so right. Sunday morning it was somewhere around 20 below then suddenly those southern winds came in and warmed it up to a high of 48 yesterday (according to the temp on my computer). It has blown and blown and melted for three days straight now and school has been canceled for the icy roads and high winds. By the time my kids go back to school next Tuesday after the holiday I'm going to be in the fetal position in the corner muttering to myself. They haven't been outside due to either cold or rain now since before CHristmas and are going absolutely crazy.

I know you are around 6 feet tall. So am I. I can never buy pants online because my 35 inch inseam always seems to cause problems. Would they be long enough for me??

I am all about wearing comfy lounge pants. In fact, unless I am leaving the house, that is what you find me in at home. I will change, run and do my errands, and then come home again and change right back into my comfy clothes :) !! At least it makes my nice clothes last longer!

You will have to let us know if REI refunds you the difference ... or if they send you some more pants ... or if you just bought some more yourself :) !!

Amen! We bloggers have a close relationship with casual wear:

sweats, ratty t-shirts, fuzzy slippers...

I'm off to REI to see if they have any in a regular size.

Oh! and Land's End has a big sale right now (ending today), so they might have some!

Ack! They're unavailable!

I live for comfy pants, especially since I just had a baby and am a walking zombie . . . I'm pretty much always in pajama or yoga pants. But fleece pants . . . hmmm. That sounds so delightful. Especially since I share your "always cold" syndrome :o)

Scribbit - I'm amazed you can keep your kids inside in this weather. Mine have been out constantly for the last two days. Of course, nothing inside is as entertaining as watching cars plow through water up to their headlights in front of our house.

"Hot" tip. The best Christmas gift I ever gave my husband has been a twin-sized electric blanket. Spread it cross-wise at the foot of the bed, turn it on an hour before retiring for warm, cozy feet. Heavenly. Turn off before falling asleep or you'll wake up sweating at 3 a.m.

$16! I wish I had a little extra cash right now! GRRR! You can also can a rebate for REI from ebates. Try Campmor too. They have a lot of similar items at better prices.

Fleece pants are the best. Try fleece or smartwool socks to help keep your tootsies warm. Another favorite keep warm item is silk long underwear. VERY NICE!

Fleece is my favorite in the winter! Thanks for the tip!

I got a similar pair for Christmas. (We went with just the basic requests this year for each other: Wooly Rascal slippers and long johns.) These filled the long johns category. I guess they're considered a base layer. No matter, baby, I'm wearing them everywhere. Got mine at Costco for $19. I am so heading over to get a couple more from REI right now. Thanks for the tip!

Boo-hoo! I didn't realize they were sold out. I wish I wasn't running behind in reading my blogs.

Jolanthe said...

These look great - there weren't any comments the first time I read this and jumped over to their site, but apparently you must have bought them out because they were ALL GONE!! Every.single.one.

So I suppose I must freeze then, huh. While you sit nice and toasty warm. :)

I loved everything FLEECE and had a fleece pair of pajamas back when I was living in cold Japan. I swear, if there were ever fleece undies I could have bought them too. My bottoms really get cold in the winter! :-)
