I know the question on everyone's lips is "What IS Michelle listening to?" so I can't hold back any more. Yes, a few of them are a tad old but I prefer to think of this as "an electic mix of classic and cutting edge" rather than something that reveals me as a middle-aged housewife.
13. "All These Things That I've Done" The Killers--A retro 80s sound and the beginning is especially terrific. Though Lillian has been know to misquote the lyrics: "I've got YO but I'm not a YOGURT!" And that's one where you'd just have to know the song to get that.
12. "Quicksand" Abdel Wright--I haven't heard anything else of his that I like other than this song but I've never been into reggae that much. This one is good.
11. "Gotta Get Up From Here"--Ellie Lawson. I love this song but Spencer says her name sounds suspiciously like "Kelly Clarkson" and he keeps his distance.
10. "La Lola" Cafe Quijano--This rounds out my attempt at multi-culturalism. I like the sixties-retro guitar and Latin beat. I'd give you the link but it's all in Spanish anyway . . .
9. "Pretty Vegas" INXS--Not quite as good as with Michael Hutchens (INXS was my favorite group in the 80s) but not bad either. A good intro with the new lead singer.
8. "I Just Wanna Live" Good Charlotte--I know it's two years old but it's good music for cleaning.
7. "Paralyzed" Rock Kills Kid--I'm dancing around the kitchen, pancake batter flying, when this one's on.
6. "I Like the Way" Bodyrockers--Also almost a year old but a great sound and I love the name of the group. My Dad introduces me to most of the hippest, newest stuff. He's quite the cutting-edge parental figure.
5. "Wild Honey" U2--One of their more obscure songs but I like the accoustic guitar and I always like U2.
4. "Ain't No Sunshine" The Lighthouse Family--A cover of the Bill Withers song from 1970 or so and even better.
3. "Juicy" Better Than Ezra--Possibly the song most frequently quoted in our house.
2. "Extreme Ways" Moby--It takes a while for a song to get from 2002 to my playlist, I'm just not that hip but once it's there I'm a fan forever.
1. "Where the Streets Have No Name" Vertigo Live Concert--The DVD is terrific and they took one of their greatest songs and made it greater (Possible? You be the judge).
Honorable mentions: "Heartbreaker" Pat Benatar, "Between Something and Nothing" Ocean Blue, "Twist in My Sobriety" Tanita Takaram, and "Real Gone" Sheryl Crow.

I must be out of touch in the music department! lol Wiggles anyone?
I don't like the new INXS, although ROCK STAR INXS was a cool show.
Did you see the U2 Live in Boston DVD?? I worked that show.
Also, thanks for visiting my blog:) Come back soon.
Great list!
Music, what's that? We listen to the bubble gum crap dribbling out of Radio Disney AM 1110 out of nearby Anaheim, Calif. Evil children's music and the oft death-laden story hour at 10 a.m. Kill that monster (Monster's Inc.). Kill that quasi modo (the Hunchback of Notre Dame). Kill those bad bugs (A Bug's Life). Has anyone else out there noticed how violent Disney movies are? ... They don't translate well to radio at all and scare my kids as much as they scare me. I digress. I'm listening to John Mayer at the moment. The new INXS singer's voice is sultry and raspy all at the same time and he's mui caliente. No one can replace the original, though. But what was up with that auto-erotic asphyxiation rumor?
I tell you, it's my hipster 58 year old father that raised me on Cream (the Eric Clapton kind) and Beatles who has a thing for anything with a good R&B riff and a sultry woman songtress. It's his doing that I have any idea at all what's on itunes.
Wow...there are some new songs I have to check out. Great list!
Happy TT!
Wow- thanks. Music is something that I have to be guided to. Just don't seem to tune into anything good on my own.
Nice dance mix!!! I love it.
i'm not a huge dancer...but last night my kids were watching shrek and we all got up and danced to "i'm a believer" :)
Great list...I'm going to have to check some of these songs out. ;) (I know some, but not many.)
Ooooooo, what fun!! I need to do one like this for songs my little guy dances to with his duck ;).
scribbit,
your enchiladas are still etched in my mind. I had to post! (actually i think i found you thru Bonnie's site)
The post about the pushy church-goer reminded me of an old joke. You ring a number and ask for Bob. You're told Bob doesn't live there. You ring twice more asking for Bob, and are told that Bob doesn't live here! You call one last time and say "Hey It's Bob, any messages for me?"
regarding 13 songs. may i suggest Ray LaMontagne. His work reminds me of the singers with the kind of artistry and passion that is here to stay. He was living in his car for a while. This is my favorite of his. Trouble (Itunes url)
And thank you for stopping by my place.

Oh, I love Wild Honey and Heartbreaker! What a nice, eclectic mix.
The original "Ain't No Sunshine" is such a great song.
It will be playing in my head all afternoon now - which is fine.
Take care,
Frances
The U2 song has become such a triumphant anthemn, yes they have improved it.
If you liked that Killers song, you should like the new one too.
There are a few songs on this list I don't know. I'll have to check them out. Great topic!
Great list of dance songs. Some of them are new to me,I'll have to check some of these out. I love U2 and INXS.
The original "Ain't No Sunshine" is a great song. I'll also have HeartBreaker stuck in my head all day!
I was able to watch JD perform "Pretty Vegas" live when INXS came to Manila last August to kick off their world tour. It was fab! c",)
I love U2 -- whenever they're on my radio the kids know it's hands-off time!
Oh, do I feel out of touch. I didn't recognize any of those songs!
I did, however, torment my kids by listening to jazz all afternoon, so I feel good about that. :)
I don't know some of those, but I love "Pretty Vegas" and "I just wanna live."
And all I can claim is bouncing around the 90's, 80's and today's hits satellite radio! LOL
Hugs,

I must be an even more middle-aged housewife -- I'm only familiar with the original version of #4. :)
Why don't I know these songs? The only one I remember is Heartbreaker.
Now I'm going to have Ain't No Sunshine in my head the rest of the day! LOL Great list!
I was worried until I got to #8, because I was feeling a bit out of it not having heard of any of those! :-)
I only listen to the radio in the car... I usually have my kids with me. And what is so bad is that they don't yell out requests of song names... they know the CD number (we have a 6 CD player in the car) and the number of the song.
SO, all I hear is MOM, play 4-2 or MOM, play 6-5.
One day, I'm going to switch those cd's and they'll be all messed up!
:-)
Some of those are new to me too, but quite an eclectic mix you have!
Thanks for stopping by.
Evidently there are a few out there who just as out of touch with what's being played nowadays as I am. I owe most of these to my Dad. He burns me CDs all the time and says, "What do you think of this?" Sometimes I have to say thanks but no thanks when he tastes run a little harder than mine. I've never like Evanescence as much as he does.
Ain't no sunshine.
Damn I love that song.
You must be a good dancer.
Thanks for passing by.
Luckily "ain't no sunshine" is a great song to have stuck in my head now :) -- altho I am not familiar with that version... and btw Tanita Tikaram rocks! I might have to go buy a CD now - I had her on cassette in college but haven't listened to her in years - tks for reminding me Michelle. Great list - happy TT!
Awesome.. I love half that list and the other half I don't know.. but I soon will. thanks!
Love this list. My favorite music is almost as diverse :) Thanks for stopping by :) Hopefully we may make a visit to your great state one day soon. Happy T13.
Evanescence Rules!
Ocean Blue! I used to work in the same department at VeggieTales as Oed Ronne (the guitarist). Interesting and unusal guy...
Oh, I haven't heard some of them...guess who's googling some songs after this?
