What was I thinking? They looked so pretty, sitting there at the grocery store, their perfect brown caps awaiting the culinary possibilities, and I drooled over the ways I could cook them. Stuffed? Sauteed? Grilled?
What part of giant mushrooms did I think they'd like? One look at the delicate slices sauteed with garlic and sweet onions in olive oil and it was as if a sudden stomach flu had struck. No one would touch them.

Oh, I so want to be in Alaska RIGHT NOW eating that delectable vison.
YUM.
GO FUNGUS!
Oh bother.
Sometimes I feel like just leaving a big box of cereal out with a sign saying 'go for it' and never serving children a meal again.
But I don't.
Yet.
I just love mushrooms. Lots and lots of them in Germany.
Try adding them to soup. They are a bit disgused then. I love mushrooms too. If you are interested here is a recipe where I used a mushroom close to a Portobello. My kids liked it!

I love portobello's! They are my fovorite!!! Next time you make them, I'm coming over!!!
Hello, Indiana Jane sent me.
The mushrooms sound good to me! After 16 years of marriage to my dear husband I still sometimes come up with meals that are appetizing only to me. It is disapointing when I want to share my enjoyment with my family.
I'm glad no one was ill for real though!
That leaves more for the rest of us! Yay!
Oh ... I love portobello mushrooms ... but my son ... thinks they are the "ickiest things ever"
SIgh
Oh man, wish I was at dinner at your house! I would have eaten them. Silly children. Fungi are delicious!
Love the details of the photo, but I still hate mushrooms. No help here.
mmmmmm....i love mushrooms, too. you could chop them up and make them into some kind of vegeburger, or pasta sauce?
