A Lesson Learned

Reminder: The next time you try to fix an earring by supergluing the post back on, wait until the glue has dried before putting the earring back in your ear.

That is, if you ever care to remove them again.

Any other idiots out there who have superglued their earring to their ear?

nail polish remover maybe??? I think the acetone might help.

Ha...I could see myself doing that! And then my husband would be in the background giving me some lecture about common sense. I would plead insanity when the cops started asking how my husband’s mouth got glued shut!!

Yes we lived in Alaska for 6 years; my husband was at Elmendorf AFB...we loved the town. I miss it enough to go back and put up with the harsh weather!

We did bring someone with us to always remember our adventures....

I'm book marking you so I can read your adventures and dream about them as if they could be my own, LOL!!

I've never superglued my earring to my ear, but I've done equally idiotic things with superglue.

You're not alone.

I'm not allowed to use superglue anymore. Not after "the incident". LOL!

Ha...ha...hope you're ok...but ha. I'll take this as a warning to use care when I superglue part of our table tonight.

Yes, I've gotten in trouble with superglue before. I don't even think I made the earring to my ear. It got stuck on my finger!!

Oh boy, I hope you managed toget it back out! I've never suffered that particular mishap, but I have gotten fingers stuck to toys during repair. Three words - nail polish remover.

Thanks for stopping by my blog :)

So, did you resolve the issue? I'm so curious. I hope it is at least a pretty earring. (picturing you walking around with one giant beautiful earring and some pajamas).

Oh NO way. How'd THAT feel?

Heather, yup, you're right about the nail polish remover. I learned in a self-defense class that acetone-based products, such as nail polish remover, will dissolve superglue. So if you're ever being superglued by an intruder in your home (isn't that horrible? What kind of a self-defense class could that have been?) keep nail polish remover close by.

Not sure if that's funny or not. Kind of scary, kind of weirdly-funny.

No, but I once superglued an earring to my thumb in the process of attempting to repair it. The day before I was supposed to play the piano for my mother's second wedding. I had garish nightmares of having my thumb amputated. The hospital was able to remove the earring by having me soaking my thumb in some industrial-strength grease remover, and I also had to endure the humiliation of various doctors, nurses, interns, etc. coming in to solemly examine my thumb and try, usually unsuccessfully, to suppress their laughter as they walked away.
