Odd Names for Toys

Here's a pop quiz to see how well you know my children and their thought processes. I have here six of their favorite toys and you must correctly guess what each toy's name is. To find the answer (and this is pure genius) click and drag to highlight the blank space underneath each question's multiple-choice options and it will show the correct answer.

1. Which famous duo are these two plastic horses named after?a) Bonnie and Clyde
b) Abbott and Costello
c) Bert and Ernie
d) Keeka and Kokada

If you said "d" you'd be right, Grace named them Keeka and Kokada when she was three, making the poor things sound like a really bad anime team.

2. Is this fine pig named after:a) A beloved children's book by E.B. White
b) A breakfast meat
c) A Loony Tunes character
d) A Keanu Reeves-Sandra Bullock movie my children have never seen

"D" again! The pig's name is Speed. I have no idea why, it's not good to ask too many questions.

3. Which of the following is the correct name for this beautiful doll?a) Goldilocks
b) Sleeping Beauty
c) Rapunzel
d) Present Opener

The answer is "d." Evidently Lillian named her after her favorite thing to do in the world, open presents. I tried to reason with her that names are usually not verbs but that didn't matter. Present Opener is it--reminds me of the Gecko she named Swimtrunks.

4. Is this stuffed dog named:a) Spot
b) Rex
c) Killer
d) Little Boy

Another point for anyone who said "d!" I don't even remember where Spencer got this beanie baby from but he named him Little Boy and loved him with a love that couldn't be diminished by time or grime. Spencer carried him around in an empty pickle jar, reminding me something of the jars of baby pigs in formaldehyde back in my seventh-grade science room.

5. Is this dog nameda) King
b) Rin Tin Tin
c) Rover
d) Fun

Have you figured out the "d" connection yet? Yes, David (who was also responsible for the Pig named Speed) continued his winning streak by naming his dog Fun. Makes sense. I couldn't come up with a picture of the dolphin he named Stallion.

6. Which two culinary delights are these two dolls named after?a) Angel Cake and Ginger Snap
b) Angel Cake and Gingerbread
c) Angel Cake and Mocha Latte
d) Angel Cake and Cookie Cutter

If you said "d" again you're amazing. Lillian didn't like the name Ginger Snap so she renamed her Cookie Cutter, which surprised me a bit, it sounds so violent--like a doll from the wrong side of the tracks with gangsta leanings but it's stuck.

Hey, I started getting them right after Number 3!

I had a)and b) for the first two, so I'm not sure where I was going with that. It might say more about their Mother...

That is too cute! When I was little, I had a little stuffed turtle that I named Phideaux (a throwback to my mom that grew up in Cajun country) and my sis and I had imaginary friends named Shockapocka and Pooley.

Very creative! Did she make them up herself? I love it.

I loved the quiz! Pretty ingenious way to give the answers.

I like the dog named "Fun."

Right now, Julia's dogs are called "dog," and the cats are "cats," and the babies are "baby." Although she does have a starfish she calls "Melvin."

I think this shows how ingenious your children are. They must have very big imaginations!

This was such a fun post to read through! My toddler is still not quite into the naming thing, even though we try to encourage her to do so.

Once I had the "D" thing figured out and knew there were no tricks involved I was on a roll! What a brilliant way to post the answers!

I love kids with great imaginations. You must be a remarkable mother!

A has a little blue bear (from the post office, no less) that he named "Dumpster." Huh? No idea where he got that name, but Dumpster it is!

After 4 I just went with D. Boy am I smart. Well, perhpas not smart, but I saw a recurring event.

That was funny. About half way down I figured they would all be answer "d". Very creative names I'd say!

Dolphin named Stallion. (snort)

I just keep thinking of the video I saw of a dolphin attacking a woman with his her, uh, well, you know they're the only other mammal that has sex for fun. Let's just leave it at that.

I think our kids should get together for a playdate. My daughter has a robin named Duwewkias, and two frogs named spit and sparkle. Go figure!

I didn't get any of them correct! But that drag and click thing was pretty cool!

The newest doll here is named "a baby" and boy was I given an "Are you an idiot, Mom?" look when I asked her to repeat it for me.

oh - i only got a couple of those!

*LOL*
I got every one correct -- even BEFORE I figured out the D connection *hee*
Must be cause I'm a mom, and I have a boy named Spencer, who overlooks his real toys to play with things like bathtub plugs, air-hockey paddles (not the game, just the paddle), a broken tv remote he calls his 'channel' (he sleeps with it) and a dice.

LOL - that is just too cute. And I have to be honest - I didn't have ONE right on the choices. You would have thought I would have gotten the hint at least by the last one...

Have a wonderful Sunday...

I'm with you on the Strawberry Shortcake duo ... but I'm steeped in lost stew on the others.

I have one of those super imaginative make up names kind of kids too. Let's see, our imaginary friend (who has been with us for 3 years) is named Gerbie and there's Konnick her brother and the imaginary family includes Melty, the big sister...

I was not very creative with names when I was little. I had 4 yellow cats (each to replace the last one who got eaten by some piece of farm equipment) named: Buttercup, Buttercup 2, Buttercup 3, Buttercup 4. After Buttercup 4 died, I got Maggie, who is calico and STILL alive. Lesson learned--give the cat a new name to break the curse.

When Elliot was 3 and in preschool, he named a stuffed polar bear "Quahko"--you know, the number 4 in Spanish! ;)
Ilsa named hers' "Good." How's your bear? Good. What's her name? Good. etc.
Fun post

Whew! It sure was a tricky "quiz"! ...=P. Tough,tough,tough..

This list is too funny. And to think we agonized over what to name each one of our kids when we could have just gone with some of these winners.

Did I ever tell you that Ethan named his parakeet Anakin Flywalker?

I would have assumed "Present Opener" was short for "Princess Present Opener"... if that's the case, the dress on the doll just seemed a dead giveaway.

This is really cute toys! I remember having stuff toys when I was little. I even put my toys beside me on my bed when I go to sleep, and I cuddle them before I sleep. I so love toys when I was a kid, every time my birthday is coming, I will make sure that I will ask for a toy as a gift, it makes me more excited.
