Hippeastrum is a strange word. Sounds like hippo. But Amaryllis... that is a pretty word. Pretty flower too.
I saw the title of the post and thought this was going to be a creative writing exercise...maybe a children's fantasy story or something. It would make a good one. But it makes a pretty nice flower, too.

Great photo. I think that if you had taken the one right beside it that was in full sun, it would have been too washed out by the light. This was lovely.
