How to Avoid Being Eaten If You Are a Cow

Mad CowGrace was emptying the dishwasher and thinking her Deep Thoughts when she turned to me and said, "If I were a cow I would pretend I was crazy. Then people would feel sorry for me and wouldn't kill me for my meat."

Evidently she hadn't heard about Mad Cow Disease. I filled her in.

"Oh," she said. "Well then I guess I'd need a magic spider that could spin a web above my pen that said, 'Some Cow.'"

Yes, I guess that's what you'd need.

I've been gone this week. Camping up in Willow and returned tonight in time to find that La Bellina Mammina and Melissa at Little Woolgatherings thought I was a Rockin' Blogger. I'm blushing--gosh guys, thanks. So I'll pass on the love by nominating by own five blogging buddies:

Rockin' Girl Blogger AwardErica at Littlemummy because she's a Mom Extraordinaire. And she lives in Scotland. I've wondered if she has a cool Scottish accent? (And that really is the coolest accent on the planet you know. . . )
Lisa at Mama Milton because she's caring and kind and a great blogger.
Jordan at MamaBlogga because she's smart and savvy and will one day rule the world.
Oh, The Joys because she's always good for a chuckle.
The Late Bloomer because she's living my Parisian dream for me
Jenn at Something to Say because I obviously have a soft spot for bloggers on the other side of the world. Jenn's blog is worth reading.

Oops. Six. Oh well, math was never my subject.

Thanks :) My accent is a scottish/welsh blend, if you are really curious check it out on an old podcast www.careermomradio.com.!

So how do these things work, do I wait and see if I've won before I nominate someonelese?? Could someone please explain the rules, I'm so clueless!

I love the way Grace thinks.

Congratulations on your very much deserved award.

I like the "some cow" protection plan. Will it work for people who get "eaten" by their unkind co-workers and family members? Can I just say "some people" and they'll all go away?

You ARE a rockin' blogger!! And I love that photo of the cow. It must be hard to explain things like mad cow disease to children... so interesting...

The "some cow" plan is great. She's such a literary young woman! You might tell her about my friends who raised two steer on their farmette: Frank and Stew.
Yup, they're in the freezer now.

Wow! Thank you so much! (Although I must admit that I'm as confused as Erica, since whenever I saw the award before I assumed I wouldn't need to know anything about it!)

Thank you again! I'll let you have Alaska when I rule the world. (Yeah, right. We both know you'll have your own.)

I would give you that award too! But I had to find folks who hadn't gotten it yet....

Have a great weekend!

Wow, Michelle, I am so flattered... I don't know what to say! Especially since my "Parisian" life seems beyond mundane and everyday, so I sometimes forget that there really are wonderful things about where I'm living.

I'm still working on the whole consistency thing and I'm determined to prepare some posts in advance (when I'm feeling prolific!), like you advised, so I'll always have material and be able to post more often, even in my stagnant periods.

But I still have a heck of a lot to learn. Thanks for being such an inspiration, and thanks for honoring me here on your blog!

Scottish accents ARE the best.

I watched a movie a year or so ago, that was set in Scotland, they spoke English (duh) BUT, their accents were so thick that the movie was subtitled.

That's the only English speaking movie I've ever watched that was subtitled. There were some seriously thick accents in that movie. I wouldn't have been able to follow it without the subtitles.

Sorry for the confusion, it's not really a NOMINATION as much as a WIN. Semantics error. You've got it. You can put the button on your blogs if you want to and then give the award to five others. Kind of like the Thinking BLogger thing.

If you have problems putting the button up, drop me a note and I'll send you my code.

Maybe we should get a spider to spin a web abover Grace's head that says, "Some Kid," because she is obviously a great thinker!

I can't wait to visit the ones you nominated. All but Oh, The Joys is new to me.

And regarding accents, two of my little nephews and my darling niece live in Dublin, and they have the cutest Irish accents. Liam, Eabha, and Eoghahn (can you guess how to pronounce Eabha and Eoghan??)

Thank you!

I made some alternative buttons for this award if you want to check them out... they are here.

Well, you daughters plan would have worked as far as people not eating her, but they wouldn't have let her live either. Too bad. I think the world could use some more crazy cows. It would liven up the road trips i take in the summer. "Look mom, that cow is break dancing, and crossing its eyes."

I love how she thinks...that is to funny!
Congratulations on your rockin blogger award. I would have to agree!

What that cow needs is a couple of geese to shoo anyone away who tries to get near!

Thanks for more great bloggers to read!

Thanks for the funny story and the links to more great reads.

My business partner wanted to pick you for the award (she loves, loves, loves your blog) but I told her someone beat us to it.

Everyone knows that if cows were cuter we would not eat them. What she needs is fluffy fur and big bunny ears...that would keep her safe.

I think Grace needs a spider now. One who can spin a web that says "SOME GIRL"!

And you one that says "SOME BLOGGER"!
Congrats on the ROCKIN' GIRL. It's totally true about you. You rock.

Thanks for the award. Gosh, that just gives me tingles. I really appreciate the nod. And your friendship of course!

I think you rock, too! And I love how our kids' minds work, and the point they choose to share their thoughts. There's no telling how that train got started!
