Announcing the Winter Bazaar
There's going to be a new weekly feature here at Scribbit starting Wednesday October 3rd: The Winter Bazaar.
It can get pretty quiet up here you know--all that snow and darkness and hibernation--so each Wednesday from October through March I will post activities, decorations, games, recipes and crafts centered around a monthly theme and I've invited other blogs to participate. These ideas could be for children or adults, the only requirement is that they fit the seasonal topics:
* October - Halloween
* November - Thanksgiving Day or autumn
* December - Christmas or Hanukkah
* January - the new year or winter in general
* February - Valentine's Day or love
* March - Easter or spring
To participate, publish a post describing an activity on the monthly theme then come here to Scribbit and leave the permalink to the post (not the main blog URL) in the comments section of my Winter Bazaar post. I've chosen to do it this way so that participants have room to describe their ideas and promote their post and to make things even more fun, for this first month I'm offering a prize to a random participant. Each time someone leaves a link to their own Winter Bazaar idea (if they're a blogger) or leaves a comment (if they're a reader) their name goes into the pot, up to once a week. More on the prize next week.
Lucy at An Ordinary Mom and MG Wallace Designs were kind enough to create a banner for the occasion which participants can display on their blogs with the following code:

Bazaarbutton.jpg" alt="Winter Bazaar hosted by Scribbit" title="Winter Bazaar hosted by Scribbit" border="0" /></a>
So see you here bright and early October 3rd with the first installment of the Winter Bazaar--I'm looking forward to see what great ideas everyone has to get me through six looooooong months of winter.

Sounds like lots of fun! I can't believe you have 6 months of snow and cold and darkness! Your blog would be a great ray of light in all these. Looking forward to this soon!
Great idea, I'm looking forward to getting involved....if I can find some creativity :)

What a great way to put some fun into winter!
What a great idea! We'll be feeling the confinement of winter here soon enough (shudder).
Great idea! I can't wait to witness the creativity a-flowin'...
Great idea, I'll be checking it out!
I am already to go :) !!
Oh this sounds like fun if I can only dredge up some creativity from the deep dark corners of my brain, LOL. What a great idea to help brighten up the winter months! :)
How fun is this!!!
I'll be thinking for next week!
Oooh...my worry is not being original enough...but I will try to come up with something good.
I am so getting involved! What a great idea!!
What a fun idea. We don't get "shut in" here (some winters I don't even bring out my jacket!), but we are always looking for fun creative things to do.
Fun, what a great idea! I'll be sure to participate.
That sounds like fun!!
Sounds fun.

This sounds like lots of fun! It won't be dark here, but rainy season is just around the corner, and I'll be trapped inside. This will be a good diversion. :)
Coolness. Good luck.
Another great idea! Looking forward to some great ideas!
Oh - neat idea! Hope I come up with a few to participate....
Totally sounds fun . . . I look forward to reading the entries and maybe participating ... Something tells me I am going to be a little busy.
Winter? It is 90 degrees here today!
Great idea. I'll see what I can come up with.
It would be cool if October included harvest so it had an alternative like all of the other months. Not everyone celebrates halloween either.
Hey Michelle I just wanted to let you know that the link for the bazaar button doesn't work. It takes you to an error page.
What a great idea! I just found your blog and love what I've read so far - so here's one for October -
www.gothtober.com.
Gothtober.com is the world’s only, time-release art gallery/advent calendar counting down the days to October 31 – Halloween.
Sounds great! I will be participating. Michigan gets pretty grim in the winter months too and since my blog is for parents here in Grand Rapids, we will all enjoy reading what others come up with too!
Great idea, I'll see what I can come up with.
Neato. If I can think of something I'll participate. However you may want to add Thanksgiving as a possibility for October too since us Canadians are celebrating it this month.
Oh and autumn for October too.
Great idea...will see what I can do when I put my creative cap on!
Going up tonight!
Thanks for the heads-up! I have been sort of out of the loop, but I am excited to hear about this. Sounds fun!
What a great idea. I was just linked to your blog by someone else. I'm having a baby in March so it will sure be nice to have a weekly thing to look forward to. Will make the time go a little quicker perhaps!
Okey doke - I just put up a slightly odd ball post, which will add a flare of uniqueness to the bazaar! I've also put in your little linky-loo!
