It's Finally Here

Snow in Anchorage, AlaskaGuess what we woke up to this morning? No more avoiding the issue, winter is here. I got my snow tires on yesterday, just in time. Actually that's a funny story . . . when we got them changed over last winter they were supposed to throw out the old set and put on brand new tires but somewhere along the way someone messed up and threw out one of the new tires by mistake.

They replaced it for us but the man was confused, "With three new tires and one mismatched old one didn't you notice that your car performed poorly?"

We laughed. With the piece of junk I drive I don't know that I'd notice if I were driving with a moose dragging from my bumper.

ACk! Snow!!! We have our typical fall rain, yuck, but I am not ready for snow! Love the story btw--last time I took mine in they forgot to do it completely. Called at the end of the day and they told me they had forgotten all about it. Sigh.

I am not quite ready for that yet. Hmmmm...I keep telling my husband I want to move north, but that might make me rethink my idea.

hmm, this must be one of the first years I can remember that it didn't snow before or on my birthday. Ack! Global warming!!
Have fun with that, it was 70 here today!

Looks very cold! I am happy it's 100% guaranteed I'll not see snow this year. I wonder if time will come that I will miss it...

I love it when they ask questions like that...

We had snow here over the weekend...but it didn't stick...much to the chagrin of my son.

Very funny tire story. Hee hee hee. Love the start of the winter wonderland. Christmas can't be far away.

So not ready for the snow to arrive here in Ohio. I'm not even sure if the trees have peaked in autumn colors yet. Rain though, lots and lots of rain.

Love the story.

I think it should only snow for Christmas. The most beautiful snows we've had here have been at Christmas - when we've been in Tennessee or Georgia with family. The Christmases we stayed home - nada. But by February I'm just done with winter. We were doing an easter egg hunt on April 8 in freezing temps. Today it's FINALLY raining. Apparently it will take a couple of weeks of steady rain to take the edge off the drought. As beautiful as Alaska is, I don't think I could live there. I need sunlight. 18-hour nights might push me over the edge.

You're freaking me out, girl. Freaking me OUT!

Thankfully, our fall has been late in coming this year, so it doesn't feel as late in October as it really is. The leaves are just now hitting their peak.

But the reality is, our first dusting of powdered sugar is only a few weeks away.

We haven't had freezing temps long enough for snow. I still hope we'll get some in November.

Beautiful photograph. So different from the Santa Anas we're having in California. Things should start to cool off tomorrow.

Yup. That's what we woke up to on Sunday. Good thing we had the sprinklers blown out the day before. Of course, it's 80 here now. And sunny. And I'm sure when the Rockies come back this weekend it'll blizzard. 'Cause the weather is funny that way.

Ho boy. Here we go. We had an early first snowfall - October sixth. My son's birthday. It hasn't stopped since. In fact, it's snowing right now.

Oh my goodness, I think I actually stopped breathing for a second....

Fall has just arrived here after several 70 and 80 degree days (in OCTOBER) and we even had a new bud on our rose bush? It's crazy.

And then you go and show me snow...real nice.

As a side note, you're right. I do love me some Firefox!

We just this week had to start using our heater, because the house was about 66 degrees one morning. Life is rough. =)

Dear scribbit. Brrr... I am waiting for the first snow in Europe but the way the winter was last year (i.e. very very un snowy) I don't think I will hold my breath.

Can we have some of your snow? It might help with the fires.

Oh my goodnesss. I sometimes just forget that it is winter or cold in places as I live in heat all the time (Arizona). I miss the cold but don't know if I could go that cold. I'm a wimp now I guess.

Holy Toledo. Here I was feeling sorry for myself because Florida doesn't do fall colors, and you're getting snow already.

When I get off work this evening, and almost die of heat stroke walking across the parking lot to my car I'll remember this picture and realize that I should be thankful.
