Making Perfect Snowballs

Snowball MakerThe Winter BazaarHere's another week of the Winter Bazaar, where you learn all my secret ideas for surviving an Alaskan winter. You're welcome to join in by leaving the link to your own idea below and linking back to Scribbit to spread the word.

***

You may have already seen these before--but they were new to me a year ago so I'm taking a gamble that there are still a few of you who may not have been enlightened on how to make the world's best snowballs.

This Flexible Snowball Maker, available in many places but this one's from Amazon, comes in fun bright colors (good for finding in a snow storm) and is an absolute necessity when trying to win a snowball fight. The scooping action makes snowballs a breeze and makes creating snowy ammunition fast enough to guarantee a victory. My kids have used it and will add their own testimonials to the Power of the Scoop.

Now if you don't have snow around I'm not so sure you'd need one--sand balls just don't seem as exciting as snowballs now do they? Maybe to make a pile of mash potato balls? Potato salad balls? Jello balls? Hmmmm . . . . WWMD? (What Would Martha Do?)

Sounds like a definite must for a really good snowball fight. Saves the hands from the cold snow too!

My mom bought these for each of our families a couple years back. You can make a boat load of snowballs in mere minutes. Great fun!

I may have to get one of these for my trip to Tahoe!

That's neat, but it almost seems like cheating...

Where are the wet mittens, the giant snowballs...the wait while you make some more...? Are you sure this isn't taking the fun out of it all?

I wish I had one of these growing up! I love that it is bright red...we lost many of my mom's bread pans in the snow (until spring) while making igloo blocks after a fresh snowfall.

I've never seen these before! I want some!

I had never seen one of these before- that is so cool!

How cool! Sadly, I can see these just turning into weapons for my kids but for someone with less, um, 'creative' children it would be perfect.

Oh, Michelle...just to live in a place one winter so I could use one of these gadgets... Instead, I mostly live vicariously through the lives of my snowy blogging friends :).

I love how people figure out what the world *really* needs! I wish I had enough snow here to use one.

One of my friends has a family tradition that this gadget could really help with! They make "snow balls" out of ice cream. You need a perfectly round scoop of vanilla ice cream, rolled in coconut. Put them on a cookie sheet and re-freeze them individually so they are hard! On New Year's Eve they each take one and stick a birthday cake candle into it. The family game then is to see who can keep their candle lit the longest. You have to eat the entire time. The person whose candle lasts the longest wins a family trophy (an plaque with their name and the year engraved on it!) This tradtion is now carrying on with the grandkids. We did it with them one year and it was a lot of fun. I haven't done it since b/c I couldn;t figure out hwo to make the ice cream balls...now I know!

YAY! I've actually got a great post for the Winter Bazzar!

I just did a Snowflake Party for my daughter with all sorts of snow-y food!

We need to build some of these ourselves, maybe out of a couple of old measuring spoons and a converted pliers.

Now that's just too cool! :)

Wow! I didn't play with snow balls since I had 7 years old, well is because I live now in the Caribbean. Great blog, my first time here.

Just makes me miss the snow of our previous mountain home...would have loved it there. :)
