Mount Susitna

Mount Susitna from Anchorage, AlaskaLying on the other side of Cook Inlet opposite from Anchorage is Mount Susitna which means "Sleeping Lady." Can you see her? It's the not the greatest picture but she's lying on her back looking up at the sky with her hair flowing out to the left and her legs pointed to the right. I can't see just a mountain, it's always a lady.

Has it stopped raining yet??? It's downright tropical here in Kotzebue...about 26 degrees! I'm ready to break out the shorts.
Great shot of the Lady. Happy WW.

I love pictures like that, almost like hiding in plain sight.

I see a lady.

Definitely a sleeping lady. Very cool. There is a mountain in Abitibi Quebec "le Chaudron" shaped like an upsidedown stockpot. I could never see the mountain either. LOL

I lived in the Turnagain area and used to love walking along the coastal trail - there was always a lovely view of "the sleeping lady". Someone once told me that she sometimes appears to be sleeping on her side and others on her back...I've only been able to make out the back one, however. :)

That's a great image!

There was a mountain near our home in CO that looked like a dragon with one huge nostril pointing toward the town and maybe a section that had been cloven by an ax.

What a beautiful picture. I'm jealous. Winter just doesn't look like that down here.

Makes me homesick, too. My favorite view of her is out the back window at Simon and Seaforts:-)

She is beuatiful as well as her story. I miss seeing her everyday. God created a masterpiece for sure. Makes me homesick, after living in Alaska for 34 years (almost my whole life) nothing compares. TFS.
