The kids came in this weekend reporting that they'd seen a moose and then suddenly they'd seen two moose. Just like that.
I'm not really fond of moose--the crab apple pirates--but even I had to admit that baby is kind of cute. In a moosey kind of way.

I love how your son (I'm assuming David?) works his bug collection into the conversation! I mean, who WOULDN'T prefer a whole jar of centipedes over one measly little spider? LOL! :D
Very cool video (and now I'm going to be giggling over your 'crab apple pirate' comment whenever I see a moose :D )
"Two moose"? Are you sure it's not two meese?
You know, moose-sightings just don't happen around here...
It always amazes me that they are just ... there. My brother, too, lives in Anchorage and he'll send pictures of them on the street corners. I think they're beautiful.
That's so cool I wish I could see a moose up close.
When we visited The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone last summer, I searched and searched for moose(s???). Never saw one. Who knew I had to go to Alaska???
:)
Sweet video of mama and baby, made even more saccharine by the daddy and son conversation :).
Oh adorable! But ouch. Can you imagine being pregnant with that thing!?
Steph
Love the video and the baby moose is just adorable!
Super cute!
I thought I was cool by having wild bunnies in my back yard. You have me beat hands down ;)
That's very sweet. I'm fond of moose myself, but then again, I'm not in any danger of one wandering into my yard. Long ago I received Moose as a nickname, so I have a nice little collection now.
I love the baby moose, but I think your son is even cuter. Boy are awesome! My son is 15 months and I know it is just a matter of time until he takes up his own little bug collection. Thanks for posting this video. I needed my daily dose of Alaska!
We have Moose near us as well. . . but I haven't personally seen one yet. I think they're adorable, though. Great little video ( :
That rocks! I love living in AK. Great video!
hehe Moose are great far far away :)
I love this! I get excited if I see a deer but a moose?! And it's right there. SO CLOSE. Very cool.
The conversation between your husband and son is priceless. The fact that your son knew it was a baby simply because of the darker coloring. LOL I was afraid I was going to hear a birthing story.
I think it's great that you let her deliver in your yard without even checking to see if she had insurance. You're an inspiration to us all, Michelle.
My kids have always loved your videos.
How does moose taste? Can you pick them off right in your back yard?(total hillbilly of me, I know.)There has to be a season for them...
I'm sure if I lived in Alaska I'd not like them so much but that baby is so cute!!
How cute! I would love to see them wandering around my yard. I'd be afraid though that my neighbors would shoot them.
So cute! I hope you reserve some for us to see when we come up there on our cruise this July!
I've always been a little wary of moose because of how dangerous they are when you're driving. They're all over Saskatchewan and becoming way too common along New Brunswick roads. But they sure are majestic!
Visit To Love, Honor and Vacuum today!
I suppose everyone in your family is aware that mama moose can be dangerous? My son has has a moose visit his yard in Spokane,WA. A much rarer occassion than it must be in Alaska.
Thanks for the video. I love baby anythings.
I never thought I'd say this about a moose -- adorable. Simply adorable.
Wow, what a magic trick! ;)
awww the baby moose is so cute
now I'm convinced, my doggie must be part moose! :) The long legs & ears and the crab apple thievry. ;)
Okay, you know I love the moose! That has got to be the coolest thing ever! Moose giving birth in your yard (or close to it?). How many of us can say that? It just cracks me up that they are just there--right there, like a dog or a cat. Awesome!
Michelle:
Thanks for letting a "country living" (1 hour upstate from (ugh) NYC girl see such a charming film. I can't recall ever seeing a moose, but Mama was pretty, and that baby was adorable! We have deer, turkeys, etc, but no moose! Loved hearing how excited your son was about it all, and must tell you....your husband has a very nice voice! Pass it on...he has fans now too!
