Tic Tac Toe on the Go

Tic Tac Toe on the GoAnyone else out there have a hard time throwing out useful tin boxes? They're so tiny and cute and versatile that I have a hard time ever getting rid of them--remember that Christmas gift idea I posted about making them into little paint boxes?

Well Tic Tac Toe in a Box is yours with just a little bit of white Contact paper and some buttons backed with magnets--you could also easily adjust the idea to be a bingo game if you used tiny pictures under clear Contact paper.

A nice little something to keep in your purse for times when you need a boredom buster on the road. A parent should always have a few great ideas in reserve for those emergencies, right?

ooooh, I like that idea. Great craft to do with the kids and great for travelling, especially with the magnets - no lost pieces! Gonna have to make some of these! Thanks!

I never throw tins away...or plastic tubs, strawberry baskets, glass jars, coffee cans, paper towel tubes, cardboard boxes...it's a sickness really. Everyone else thinks I'm nuts, until they happen to need a container and voila! Container pack rat to the rescue!

Aha! Genius! Great for car rides, restaurants, doctor's offices and other places.

You are so clever!

I always try to keep a toy or two in my purse. You never know when you'll need it.

That is a BRILLIANT idea, although I bet it involves a glue gun, getting the button onto the magnet.

Actually, I used the sticky-backed magnetic strips you can cut to fit though that's only because I was out of the other kind. The best way to do it is to get some plain round magnets in the craft section of Walmart and then use some kind of cement or super glue to glue them--that'll hold the best. I wouldn't mess with the hot glue at all.

My kids love tic-tac-toe! This would be a fun project for them to make.

I have everything but the tins. Guess I'll have to buy some dark chocolate Altoids I've been wanting. (at least I think that's what they are)

Well I was wondering what to do with a little tin box I have, that I just couldn't throw away. Now I know!

Found your blog thru Metropolitan Mama. Alaska is our newest fascination, ever since my son and I discovered the show "Tougher in Alaska". We were instantly hooked. Now I am happy to have found your blog about "Motherhood in Alaska"!

I have a really hard time throwing out tins as well. I just know they can be re-purposed and I love this idea. Oh the possibilities.
This is really a wonderful little gem of a craft.:)

Wow..this looks very much like the travel tic tac toe that I just purchased yesterday from Target. It comes in a little tin box and everything. :) Yours looks great!

This is brilliant and something I could actually do myself!

Brilliant!!! I am just amazed at the incredible creativity given to some (and the incredible LACK given to me!!).

Of course I can't think of a single thing (aside from Altoids) that comes in a tin. Hm.....

That is so incredibly brilliant that I'm a little annoyed I didn't think of it first! :)

Ooooh.. and you could personalize it even more by using card board or card stock with little photos on them! Fun gift from one friend to another- both heads! I love it!

thanks for the idea!

A perfect use for Altoids containers! And at the light speed in which we eat those, we could make stocking stuffers for everyone by THIS Christmas.

Glad I'm not the only to have trouble throwing cute containers away. Great idea!
