Polar Roses

Polska Polar Roses in AlaskaMy Polska (Polar) rose, a hardy Finnish variety that I've had for six years now, is in full bloom and I never imagined I could have such a beautiful site in my garden.

Do you see those Mom? Thinking of you . . .

They're beautiful! The heat withered my roses for a bit. Terribly jealous. :)

They look very pretty sorry to hear you didn't have much warm weather this year. We should trade places it was almost unbearable here in NC.

You can grow that in Alaska and I can't even keep my basil alive down here in Tennessee....

Beautiful! When we bought our house two years ago, it came with about 30 rose bushes. I've been enjoying my new hobby. And LOVE looking at gorgeous pictures like yours.

Gorgeous! It can be frustrating when you live in an area too cold to grow your favorite plants (like magnolias - oh, how I would LOVE to have magnolia trees), but isn't it just a delight to find something beautiful that does grow in your area?

OOOOOH! Those are beautiful! I'm going to have to steal your idea- I am of Finnish descent and I have a new arbor being built that will have a trellis. It just fits! Wish my brown thumbs luck.

Those are gorgeous! I figured I couldn't grow roses on the north side of the mountain, but a nice hardy Finnish variety might work!

lovely!!--and my other Anchorage Alaskan friends tell me you are having a cold summer up there! My now deceased mother (Elizabeth Harris) wrote a book on gardening/growing flowers in Southeast Alaska (published in the 1980's)--she had this most lovely flower garden in Juneau--the book is now out of print, but I have a few copies--let me know if you would like one. The book would also be applicaple to the Anchorage area...
