Help!

Okay quick question before I return you to your regularly scheduled posts (see below). It seems I've been invited to participate in an interview with Patrick Dempsey (surely I don't have to include a link for you to know who that is). I'll be talking with him next Tuesday and need questions for him! It's in conjunction with his new fragrance, Unscripted, so the questions really should relate to that somehow.

Leave me some ideas below and if I chose yours you can have a bottle of the cologne for yourself.

You can ask him if his daughter has smelled the stuff and what she thinks. Kids are always brutally honest. :)-

I always wonder what the inspiration behind the scent is. I'm sure many celebrities just slap their name on what some perfumologist comes up with, but I'm curious just the same.

Janelle said...

Ask him if he'll marry me?

Annette Lyon said...

I can't imagine all the questions would have to be about his perfume. I heard that he's dyslexic. Maybe you could ask how he memorizes his lines and/or does he ever improvise, "unscripted"? (See, THERE'S the tie-in! :D)

Kim said...

I want to know how much creative control he has over the final product . . . is it just his face they're using to sell the fragrance, or does he have an actual say in what it smells like?

Michelle Glauser said...

Pretty sure I still had to look up who that was. Shame on me. He's one handsome dude. You could ask him how many different scents he had to smell to choose that scent and if he had a headache after (too much perfume/cologne gives me a headache. Is that just me?).

Annikke said...

WHOA! I got nothing for ya, just wanted to say WHOA! That is so awesome!

Becky said...

Ask him if he really wears the fragrance. Also you could ask him if his wife likes it or if he asked her advise during the process of developing it.

Becky said...

PS You are one lucky woman!

Unknown said...

What does his wife think of the fragrance? Did she have much influence on the outcome of the scent? How did he enjoy the creative process of creating a fragrance, as different from the creative work he does in acting? Is it something he would do again?

Alexis AKA MOM said...

All I can think of is Can't By Me Love. I know it's not on the point but man I love that movie! Ok think ... maybe what made him go with cologne? Or is this a start to a new line of products? Sorry all I got! But man your a lucky woman!

SarahHub said...

I couldn't think of a question. I'm tongue-tied just at the idea...

jan in nagasaki said...

ask him to talk about his child hood memories of smell/fragrance...what smells bring back the most vivid memories..

for example, we used to visit my grandmother every other year, her shower in the basement... the combination of soap and mildew comes to me sometimes and I remember those days...

Ally said...

I am so jealous. My question isn't really about his fragrance, it's how he balances his family life and spending time with his kids and his rigorous work schedule. It's the million dollar question for most of us, but I would like to know his take on it. You are so lucky!!

Sonja said...

Uh, wow.
Lucky.

Ok, seriously, I'd be curious to know what motivated him to sponsor a fragrance. Is it the fame? The potential influence? Does he just really like the scent? The opportunity to leave one's mark on the world?
(ooh, that last one could be interpreted the wrong way)

I look forward to reading the interview! Good luck!

Heather of the EO said...

This is so much fun!!! He really is my favorite, I'm not just saying that...so I'm royally jealous. Just so you know.

Oh, I wish I could come up with the best question EVER. But that's hard! (to think of questions about a fragrance)

GOOD LUCK!

Marketing Mama said...

OMG, I am a huge fan of him - particularly Grey's Anatomy. Love him. He even made my 100 things about me post on my blog! :)

I don't even have a question. Just love him.

Amber M. said...

Lucky, lucky ducky. I'm gonna be absolutely no help. Especially because I get all flustered just thinking about him.:-)

Can't wait to hear all about it!

Suburban Correspondent said...

I win - I don't know who he is.

mum2twelve said...

Oh Gosh - I had to look him up too. The name was familiar but I wasn't sure who he was exactly. I guess I am too busy with living life? Anyway - what's it like with twins? As many as I have had - I don't think I could cope with two teething - two toilet training, two climbing... even though at one time I had three in diapers... Ask him if life with twins is as hard as it looks! I know its double the joy - but are you so tired that you kind of miss some of it - you know, life is just a blur?

Then ask him if YOU get to try/smell the perfume so you can describe the scent to us? Personally I like a musk based scent!

Best of luck with the interview!
Blessings
Christi

Ha! My husband and I were just talking about him the other day. I was getting him and Patrick Duffy confused. I've got it straight now!

Congrats and good luck!

jubilee said...

Ask him if you can touch his hair. Oh, wait, no, that would be totally inappropriate. But doesn't he have great hair?

You could ask him what the name of his blog would be if he had one. Or what the title of his memoir would be. I'd go for Re-Dempsy-ion even if it's a little irreverent.

MommyTime said...

You could ask him whether he wears different scents when he's playing different characters: does he choose one based on the character's personality, or his own?

Also, um... wow! He's so fantastic. I'm envious. I'm curious what this scent is like.

Two Mittens said...

Are you going to talk with him in person???
Just lean in close and take a sniff and then let me know if he smells like heaven...
tee hee

Heather said...

Ooh - fun for you! I alway wonder how all these celebrities keep their fragrances from smelling the same. Do they compare theirs to all the other ones to make sure they haven't accidentally copied some one else's fragrance? Have fun interviewing him!

Anonymous said...

Ask him to imagine that you do not have the sense of smell then ask him to describe the Unscripted scent so that his description allows you to smell the cologne.

Peruby said...

I am a big movie buff and I had to "imdb" him. I didn't care for his movies, have never seen one episode of Grey's Anatomy, so....

Jan in Nagasaki beat me to the idea I had. What were his favorite smells/scents that bring back memories of childhood?

His wife works for Avon who sponsors the scent. Cracked black peppercorn, really? With a mix of fig and lavender. Huh.

Anonymous said...

Why the name "Unscripted"??? What does that name mean to him. I am sure I know the answer but it would be interesting to hear it in his own words.
Wow he is so cute, I bet your are really excited.

janet copenhaver said...

Ask him if his cologne smells as good as he looks, then politely ask if you can take a whiff of him.
I guarantee it will knock your socks off one way or the other!

rachel said...

Brand new to your blog- ask him if his new scent was inspired by his wife? I've heard they are really happily married and ask him if she played a big role in him selecting the makeup of the final product.

AKkimmie said...

Will he branch out to do other lines??? More cologne? perfume? perhaps clothes?

Robin said...

How about "if Robin leaves her husband can she run away to Tahiti with you?" Kidding. Sort of.

;-)

Anonymous said...

Oooh. Ask him how he stays so hot? Seriously, ask him how he got the idea to make a cologne or if someone approached him about it. I doesn't seem like something I'd think about doing just out of the blue. (Clean house- check, take kids to school- check, meet with Avon to create a perfume- uhhh)

Twinsmom said...

I would ask him which one of his characters would wear this new fragrance and why the scent would fit that particular man.

Have fun!

Dreamer said...

My only advise is try not to fly out of your chair and kiss him wildly and passionately. Oh boy, is it hot in hear? JEALOUS! YOU. MUST. SHARE. PICTURES. And if he hugs you can I call dibs on the sweater you're wearing? *Dreamy*

Ann On and On... said...

Why cologne? Why now? Is is the last product to confirm that he has made it in show biz. If he could make a fragrance for his wife, what would it smell like.

Ask him how hard it is to keep a smile (fake smile) when he hears "Mc Dreamy" comments.

Oh, and if you suddenly start feeling under the weather...feel free to contact me to fill in. :D
I'll make you proud and make sur to take lots of photos so you will not feel like you missed out.

Holly Crosley said...

I am wondering as well, why the jaunt into fragrance, as opposed to any of the many other opportunities out there? He is a car racer, a father, an actor (who, btw, has gotten waaaay better with age!) - so many other outlets for possible products (if that is what he is into) or services.

Anonymous said...

Does he plan on wearing his new cologne and only his new cologne? Didhe come up with the name of the fragrance or not? How involved was he in the process of picking out the scent for the cologne?

Ice Cream said...

Woohoo! Look at you, going big time with the celebrities and all. Here are questions I would like to ask:

On Ellen he touted the cologne as unisex. Does/would his wife wear it?

What would he consider his biggest contribution to the scent itself? Did he make a certain decision or change to the scent that made it more to his liking?

Unscripted is said to have notes of cardamom, black peppercorn, fig, lavender, leatherwood, patchouli, vetiver and musk. What is vetiver and how would you describe it's individual smell?

Can you tell me, in one word, how you feel when you wear your cologne? And you can't say, "Unscripted."

Scribbit said...

I love these! Andrew and I were talking about what to ask him and he made the suggestion that I ask him if he feels threatened by the legendary good looks of Alaskan men. :)

Derick and Becky said...

Did he decide to do the cologne because his wife works for Avon? I know they are selling it in their catalog, so just curious if she made him decide to do it or if he really wanted to create something as yummy as him!

Inkling said...

Wow. I'm married, but still think he's a cutie. It's a good thing I'm not interviewing him, because the only questions I would be able to voice would be things like, "So do all women get weak in the knees when they meet you? May I smell you, er, I mean your cologne?" I'm sure you'll be much more cool, calm, and collected instead, and I know you'll come up with a good, journalistic sounding question.

Jolanthe said...

All I can say is -

WOW!!

Too amazing and fun, and boy aren't you going to have fun stories in the years to come!

My question is: how does a fragrance smell "modern" and "classic" - define those smells.

Anonymous said...

Sweet mercy woman...what a SCORE!

His eyes...oh, dear...those "looks" melt me! I can't believe I wasn't asked to interview him though--he IS my soulmate after all ;). Feel free to share the news with him--

http://pensieve.typepad.com/pensieve/2008/02/ahhhhhhh-george.html

Ask him if he's worried what his kids will think about him kissing other women on camera...and sleeping with them. Seriously. Obviously, it's something his wife can life with, but I wonder what it's like for kids growing up to see their parent lip-locked & more with someone other than the other parent.

Also, ask him what fragrance he wore prior to "creating" his own.

I would ask him if he plans on donating any portion of his sales to charities....he has fame fortune good looks, whats he giving back???? and is he secrectly mad hes Mcdreamy and not Mcsteamy lol just kiding but if he needs a charity, congenital heart defect research needs help hint hint!!

Lori said...

I would ask him if he or Jillian plan on a women's perfume in the near future. :)

Chrisbookarama said...

Nothing to add, just...WOW!

miriama said...

I always wonder how they choose a fragrance they like and how to make it universal enough for mass appeal.. And how much they really have to do with it.

Nixkickin said...

My question would be for YOU: Does he smell good?? (He just LOOKS like he smells good!)We want to hear all about this!!

Pamela said...

Is he donating any of his profits to charity? Because that would be lovely.

Mindy said...

I always wonder with the signature scents just how much the person whose name the scent carries is involved in choosing the scent. Do they just give ideas in words, or do they really get involved in a more nose on kinda way.

Shannon said...

I would ask him what his favorite scent for his wife to wear was . . . or what her favorite scent was ( :

And, how stinkin' cool of an opportunity! Hope you have a blast!

Anonymous said...

I am SPEECHLESS!! So no perky questions for ya!

What a cool opportunity. Popular bloggers are just too cool!

Anonymous said...

I don't have any question ideas, but you are one lucky gal!

Sunny Andersonn said...

I would like to know if he ever considered naming the product McDreamy. Even if it was just for a split second to make a friend laugh. I must know this answer and you are the only one that can get it for me.

And does he know that I am already calling the new scent McScribbit? Because I am.

Helen said...

I want to know which fragrances he wore prior to Unscripted. Also, if there are plans on expanding on that fragrance line or will he be the face of other fragrances.

For example Derek Jeter had Driven sold through Avon and then they released Driven Black.

You can do more research on the fragrance itself right here:
http://tinyurl.com/6ppyhx

Interesting that the perfumers who created Unscripted also created Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers Love which was also recently released.

Does the cologne name have anything to do with how he feels about his acting career? Does it relate to that time period where we did not see as much of him, like a testimony to a certain period in his life? Or to what is life behind the scenes as a husband and father? Where did the name for the cologne come from? did he have any say in choosing the name?

wow, you get to meet Patrick Demsey. He was great in Enchanted!!! Great photo opportunity... Say Hi from ME, and pass on my link to my papercuts, maybe he would like to see! ( I am laughing here, like he hasn't got more important things to do! :-), but if you want to... My other guy friends think they are cool, so, who knows! :-)) Anyhow, have fun!!!

by the way, I loved Amanda P's question... "ask him if his daughter has smelled the stuff and what she thinks." great idea! now if he will answer honestly...

Elaine Candeloro said...

I think that many scents have meaning. Ask him if the scent conjures up any memories for him, or if it doesn't have any memory for him, what would he like it to remind people of? For instance, my mom always wore a particular scent while she was pregnant, and now I wear it whenever I am pregnant or have strong memories of that time. Whatever you ask, I'm sure it will be interesting and you will do a great job! Elaine

Janet said...

Patrick Dempsey, huh? I want to rent "Enchanted" mainly because of him. Dr. McDreamy indeed. I wish I'd already seen Enchanted, but I don't guess I could come up with any questions that could relate that to the cologne.
Have fun tomorrow!

Hey, you're a "mommy" blogger. I'd ask what advice he would give to parents and family members of dyslexic children. I am pretty sure that all the perfume questions will be used fairly quickly.

Anonymous said...

Ask him if his cologne smells as good as he looks =)

Is he donating any of his profits to charity?

ask him how he got the idea to make a cologne.
