Lillian needed new socks this week and needed some attention so I bought a package of plain white socks and we set to decorating them.Here's one of the pair but we also did hearts, "I Love You," and a pair monogrammed with her name and lots of dots.
All it takes is a little puffy paint and 24 hours of keeping the fingers from touching that wet puffy stuff and you've got some pretty, non-skid Valentine's Day socks.
Your toes will love you back.

Great idea! It's my understanding that puffy paints wash just fine. Aren't they meant for material?

These are cute... I might make some for the little girls in my life. I think my daughter is too little to appreciate these. She still gets excited over her new light up sneakers!

This is a great idea...I am thinking it would be great to get a package of socks and make some up as birthday gifts for all these classmate birthday parties we go to.
Washing is easy--they can be laundered just like any other pair of socks. The only thing that can sometimes be tricky is if you dry them on a very high heat the puffy paint can stick to itself when the sock gets rolled up and folded over in the tumbling.
If that happens it usually just needs you to pull it apart and flatten it by hand and it's good to go though I've wondered if you had the heat on super high if it would melt anything. So far nothing but if someone else has had different experience please speak up.

I never thought of that....with all the stuff we slap fabric paint on to keep the kids busy, the idea of socks never crossed my mind.
Time to fo find a few matching socks to paint!
Thanks for the neat idea. Puffy paints (here we call them 3-D paints) add spice to a variety of things, but socks are a new idea.

That's a wonderful and easy idea. You know I tried the sculpy heart one and that just did not turn out as easily as I would have thought it would. However puffy paint and white socks, I think the kids can handle that one. ;)

Oh the memories! I think we puffy fabric painted anything that could be worn in any way at all back in the late '80s and early '90s.
This, however, is an excellent use for it. I'll have to give it a try for my children who absolutely will not wear slippers.
