The Write-Away Contest Marches On

Modern Dwellers Chocolate Lounge in Anchorage, AlaskaYou might have seen the announcement for the Anchorage area blogger meet up last week and I had a wonderful time chatting away with Kim from The Mommy Machine.

I look forward to organizing another weekend meet up in a few months but I think I'll definitely stick with Modern Dwellers Chocolate Lounge because I can't get enough of their gourmet truffles.

Which brings me to this month's Write-Away Contest. This month's prize will be a selection of truffles from Modern Dweller with their wonderfully exotic flavors including Indian Bop, Tokyo Tango and the Berbere. No joke but they even have one with a tiny bit of smoked salmon topping it and one with a pretty little dried anchovy. I am not kidding.

I haven't yet had the chance to try the fishy-truffles but I love some of the others like Raspberry Grove and Mint Breezy (best mint truffle ever) and the rose-with-chocolate that's not listed on their site but pictured at The Adventures of Superwife (another Anchorage blogger I had the pleasure of meeting).

So what is the theme? "Sweet." As in chocolates of course--so get your inspiration however you can and get ready to submit a post. It might earn you a box of fabulous chocolates--I'd even throw in an anchovy one if you so desire.

Our guest judge is published writer Annette Lyon whose sixth book Tower of Strength is coming out this week (I know she's got a week of giveaways going on at her personal blog The Lyon's Tale in celebration). So get busy and get writing!

To enter please follow the directions below:

1. Write a post or find one in your archives on this month's theme then email your post's permalink to me at scribbit at gmail.com. The permalink is the URL of the individual post--not the URL of your blog--usually found by clicking on the post title or time stamp and copying the URL that appears in the address field. I will accept entries through Wednesday March 18th. If you fail to meet that deadline I will still happily publish your link with the list of entries but it will not be judged. I reserve the right to reject submissions if they fail to meet the topic or if they contain objectionable content.

2. Publish a link to the contest page here at Scribbit in either your entry post or in a separate post. I'm not picky how you do this, just give the contest a little mention as a courtesy and nod back. Don't stress over it because I won't.

3. Check back here on Friday March 2oth when I will post a complete list of the entries along with the Write-Away Winner and three Honorable Mentions.

4. Please remember: I will list the entries along with a small teaser for each. Just the first sentence or two of each post to give people an idea what they might expect if they should be so bold as to click on the entry.

Also, please be aware that while you are welcome to include graphics or photographs with your entries the judge will only see the text of your post. No links, no pictures, no name of your blog, nothing that might identify it to the judge. While visual posts are always beautiful to see on your blog I will only send the text to the judge and your entry will not be able to rely on visuals to influence their judgment.

I'm sorry if this makes it difficult, there are some amazing photographers out there, but it is a writing contest and I'd like to keep things focused on words.

As always, all featured winners will get to take home this attractive Write-Away Winner button which he or she may display if they wish.

I hate you. (Said completely with dripping sarcasm and totally NOT meaning it.) I love chocolate but hate blogging so I won't be entering. Of course I also have given up chocolate for Lent.

Ah, a topic that makes me salivate. I guess I'll end up buying and eating a lot of chocolates as I have an excuse - RESEARCH.

Could anything be more perfect than a chocolate Bar. A place to go and just order chocolate..without the pesky entree I usually have to order first just to make it look like I didn't just come for dessert.

hmmmm I'll have to think about a sweet topic. mmmmmmm

Wonderful that you were able to meet up with Kim from The Mommy Machine. I check out her blog regularly. I know that she has given up the blogosphere for Lent, but I was glad to read that didn't also mean skipping a meet and greet with you!
