I'm staying inside, baking banana muffins. Partially to be a good mom and partially to cover the smell of halibut leftover from last night's dinner. I hate it when dinner smells linger too long. Especially the fishy ones.
I'll leave you with a few fun things--first, here's a great article from the Wall Street Journal about the future of the novel. I found it interesting, good for some speculation.
Second, here's the trailer for the new movie The Men Who Stare at Goats. I have no idea what it's going to be rated but it looks like a movie I would love. George Clooney can be the funniest thing when given the right script.
Then here are a few recipes worth reviewing:
Cookie Cocktails from Rachael Ray--just what I need. Dessert and drinks combined.
Clam Cookies from Craft Gossip (cutest cookies in the clam bed!)
Grown up Pop Tarts from Little Acorn
And Panda Bread from Perfect Pandas

Great links today! I just got done with 12 loaves of apple-zucchini bread. If one neighbor gives you apples and another gives you zucchini, it just seems obvious. Happy Baking!
(BTW: I picked up Artisan Bread the other day and can't wait to get started! I KNEW I was saving that B&N giftcard for something good.)
M--my sweet aunt saw my post about that book and went out and got me a copy that same day. Brought it over and everything.
I have the greatest family :)
Hi Michelle,
I agree with you on the fishy smell. My husband and I love fish, but the smell does tend to hang around.
And not to be a kill joy; but you do realize that your summer just started, right? Fall sneaks in so quickly!!
Take Care,
Trixie
I noticed while I was out running today that some of the aspen are already changing here too. I think we're going to have an early winter and am preparing for snow before the end of the month.
That movie does look funny! I'm hoping it's rated so that I can see it, too.
Michelle,
Can you send some of that Alaskan air down this way to California? I would love to see fall usher in anytime. I keep waiting to see the leaves on my maple turn, it is usually the first sign we see.

Oh yes, Fall is definitely on it's way here in Michigan too. I think I'm actually ready for it though.
That panda bread is just one of the cutest things! Thank you for all the awesome recipes and links you share. You rock!
Oh my heck, that movie looks funny. And Ewan MacGregor is just bonus!
Sorry to hear about fall. It's encroaching on us too in New England.
Thanks for the Wall Street Journal article. And that panda bread looks great. I've got to try that.
Oh! Great stuff!! And THANK YOU for posting a picture of fall from your neck of the woods!!! I just got back from my first visit to Alaska not even a month ago, and I miss it so much!! I hope to move there once I graduate from nursing school. (And I know...I know...winter is tough...)
Keep the fall pictures coming!!! (As if you have nothing else to do with your time but to appease me!!) : )
Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!
I know I say it frequently, but it's true: you find the best links! Thank you. Enjoy your fall weather. We won't have "fall" for another three months!
Thank you for posting the link to the novel story! I can't decide whether to burn the author in effigy, or breath a huge sigh of relief.
It's been raining buckets in Fairbanks for days. Hope we get a little reprieve before my *first* Alaskan winter.
Ciao,

Does this mean the geese will leave here soon? Messy little guys!
I just posted about fall today too!! Guess it's in the air!
Got the Artisan bread book...my hubby came home from the book store and handed it to me....what a guy! Can't wait to try it!
Those pop tarts, might be great, but if they don't have sugar sprinkles, I'm not interested (maybe I'm not grown up enough, yet).
Banana muffins sound fun, but I'm not in the mood for baking for a while after just completing my fourth batch of savory zucchini bread to freeze.
Oh my word - the trailer for that movie looks hilarious.
I just watched that clip again and that last line is just cracking me up. :)
Oh Brother, Where are You!!! He may not be able to get over himself...but he sure can be funny. MOMM
It's going to be an early fall here too. The sugar maples are already turning. *sigh* I love fall, but we never had summer here this year!
so love that Panda Bread idea at the bottom, too. may totally be able to use that in the future. Yay!! makes me smile...
George!!! And great links btw :0
