Campus Quilt Custom Quilt Giveaway

Campus Quilt CompanyI have done reviews for over two years now and of all the things I've seen this is my favorite so far.

Campus Quilt Company asked me if I'd like a quilt to see how their services work. At first I wondered if I'd even use a custom quilt (we have a lot of quilts already here) but then I remembered someone who might be interested.

My sister had a son who was autistic who passed away a year and a half ago. When I told her how Campus Quilt will take clothing and make it into a quilt she was thrilled at the chance to be able have a quilt made from Alex's clothing.

She was sent an email with a link that contained a pdf file where she could download a UPS label suitable for shipping and a list of instructions on how to select clothing that would be best for the project. It all went smoothly and soon the package with the clothes and her preferences was off and running. It only took about two weeks and she had the finished product back (it came Thursday) and called me when it arrived.

Campus Quilt CompanyI came right over to take pictures and we both thought it was just beautiful--they'd taken good care of the clothing and had done an amazing job of incorporating the little items on the background, it was very secure and well-done, and the machine quilting was professional and neat. It was just what she'd want as a tribute to her son and she's planning on giving it as a Christmas gift to Alex's older brother who had worn many of the same pieces of infant clothing as Alex had.

You can choose different sashing or backing for your quilt in cotton or flannel and it seems like if you've wanted to do something like this yourself but don't have the sewing or quilting skills this is a great way to create an heirloom.

My sister said she'd like to have one made for each of her children. You can do a quilt with small clothing or patching together t-shirts for your favorite college kid or sports fan. There are quite a few possibilities with this, I can see a quilt made from your kids old jeans with a pocket centered on each quilted square. The holidays aren't too far off and this would be a wonderful gift. I was very impressed with our experience--glowing recommendations all around.

And the good news is that Campus Quilt is spreading the love even more and offering a $150 gift card toward any of their custom quilts (with you providing the t-shirts, clothing, socks, tote bags, or any other special items you'd like to incorporate) so one winner can try the services out for themselves. Thanks for the treat Campus Quilt!

Here's how to win:

I will pick one of the names at random, contact the winner via their email and publish the winner's first name and home town in next Tuesday's post. What a great idea! We have a quilt made from my mother-in-laws favorite sweatshirts, and we pass it from child to child each Christmas.

I have always thought a quilt like this would be great! I don't have the skills or the time to make one myself. This one turned out really beautiful. And they did it so fast! What a wonderful way for C and her family to remember Alex.

Oh my, that is such a brilliant idea. It's beautiful. I knew there was a reason I was saving my kids' clothes.

That is brilliant. So many people have memories that they want to preserve, but the required skills are becoming far less common.

I think these are so wonderful. I'm planning on making a quilt out of some of my children's baby clothes at some point...

What a beautiful gift for anyone, but especially a mother who has lost a child. It was so loving of you to think of your sister.
