"So how much ash did you get this weekend?"
Not that much as you can see--just enough to make things look rather dingy like a Tim Burton movie. Here's a close up:
But still, it's our ash and we're darn proud of it and it's still there . . . somewhere under the fresh four inches of snow we got the next day.
Is that groundhog DEAD?? I think he's totally abandoned us.

WOW! That's some ash! Awesome photos; I just hope you are all doing okay up there. I love reading/seeing your blog, so thank you for the great posts!
My husband still remembers vividly the eruption of Mt. Saint Helens. No one could drive anywhere for a long time because of the ash... school was closed for almost two weeks. And his momma was stuck in a hotel, out of town, while he partied it up with his dad at home. Glad y'all are okay!
Thanks for sharing these - I was wondering what ash-covered snow looked like. Hope spring comes to Alaska soon!
Just got your newsletter. It was great!!! Looking forward to the next one.
One of my daughters was born on the day that Mt. Saint Helen blew. No we didn't name her Helen;-)
Thank you for sharing the detail - we only see 'the larger picture' in the news. I was trying to picture in my mind what the ash fallout might actually look like.
I gasped when I saw the picture! yikes.
My daughter is so excited! Not only does she love volcanoes, she's also a big chinchilla fan and she thinks, "if they have a chinchilla, they should give him an ash bath".
