Praline Cookies

I love all things with "praline" in the title so Praline Cookies are going to be at the top of my list (or as Grace calls them, "Praline Maria Cookies" and you'd have to be a Sound of Music fan to get that one).

Come to think of it, these would be good as the base for a praline sundae--one of these cookies with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, drizzled caramel, honey, sprinkled with cinnamon and topped with whipped cream and a handful of crumbled praline. I'm going to have to write that one down, I think we have a winner.

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
powdered sugar

Melt butter and add sugars, egg, flour and vanilla. Mix well. Add pecans and drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets and bake at 375 8-10 minutes. Let cool 2 minutes and dust with powdered sugar. Makes 2 1/2 dozen.

I went poking around through your recipe index the other day and this recipe was one of several I filed away. Just made them this afternoon and my family and I all agree that this one's a keeper! Loved them! (and the Sound of Music reference. *g*) Thanks!

Oh, Michelle, Grace's comment is simply precious. It brought a smile to my face. Thank for the lovely addition to Eat Christmas Cookies.

Every Halloween, the elderly lady next door gives my son pralines and candy bars. I think she has a bag of small candy for the other trick-or-treaters but loves Blake so much she treats him special. The thing is -- he doesn't like pralines. But I love them, so we've never told her. ;)

Thanks for the recipe
