September's Write-Away Contest

The Write-Away Contest for SeptemberGood morning and welcome to another month of The Write-Away Contest. After a long relaxing summer I'm excited to be back in the blogging saddle and hosting another chance at fun and prizes--all with the benefit of some good writing.

This month the topic is learning. Notice I didn't say education--that would suggest mere academics--no, the topic is more about growth that comes from discovering something new. You could write about how you feel about learning, school or education; you could write about your experiences with the same or you could look at it from a parental perspective. Whatever the word "learning" suggests to you, though the closer to the topic the better chance you'll have.

If you'd like to participate, here are the rules:

1. Write a post or find one in your archives about learning. Email your post's permalink to me at: scribbit at gmail.com any time through Wednesday September 19th. If you fail to meet the September 19th deadline I will still happily publish the link to your post and include it in the list of entries but it will not be judged. I reserve the right to reject submissions if they fail to meet the topic or if they contain objectionable content.

2. Publish a link to the contest page here at Scribbit in either your entry post or in a separate post.

3. Check back here on Friday September 21st when I will post a complete list of the entries along with the Write-Away Winner and any honorable mentions our judge sees fit to award.

Our guest judge this month is Chelle from Crazy Thoughts who has learned a thing or two about blogging and motherhood over the years and has kindly agreed to judge the entries based on the quality of writing, the applicability to the topic and the overall ability to engage the reader.

The prize you're writing for is a handbag, pictured above. Usually I try to get an Alaskan gift, something that you can't get in just any old tourist shop, but this time I've decided to offer one of my new handbags. I've been making purses all summer and my house isn't big enough to hold all of my new creations and as it was between getting a bigger house and finding an outlet for my wares I've decided to open an Etsy shop and see how it goes. You can see the links on my sidebar at the bottom where it shows pictures of the two bags I have to offer. I have three of each color but the special one that I'm offering for the Write-Away prize this month also has red beads around the top. So if you don't win the contest this month and you're into purses as much as I am, you can always purchase your own.

But besides this the winner and all runners-up or honorable mentions (I leave that up to the judge to award them) will also get to take home this attractive Write-Away Winner button which he or she may display in their sidebar if they wish.
Write-Away Contest WinnerGood luck, I look forward to reading your entries.

Congratulations to Marla from Ottumwa, Iowa for winning this week's giveaway from Vessels and Wares. I hope she enjoys her lovely little pot.

But as for other contests, check out So A Blonde Walks into a Review for a chance to win $100 gift certificate to My Little Piggies and Growing a Life to win other fabulous prizes.

Michelle, I love that purse. And no, that is from Alaska, and something you certainly wouldn't find in a tourist shop. I'm thinking of an entry.

Michelle
I tried to comment on your Ship Creek posting but my computer got into a loop and wouldn't let me!!
Anyway I'm here now to say: "Stop it, please!" From office to creek in ten minutes, burgers to die for (regardless of the calorific and fat content), clear blue skies ... I want some. I "Googled" budget flights and got £771 return as the cheapest. It's probably not actually the cheapest but anything of that magnitude is seven weeks or so of my pension without spending money on anything else!! OK, don't stop telling me about your wonderful home because I don't think I'll ever see it for real! And anyway, I console myself, the carbon footprint I'd lay down by travelling from England to Alaska by air (what other way is there across the Atlantic?) is something I wouldn't want to eb saddled with. Just has a wonderful thought -- I can get to the East coast of Russia by train (probably lots of trains). Maybe one day?

A beautiful bag, which unfortunately I have no hope of ever trying to win. My unfinished "learning" piece is not going to make the deadline. Too much work in the orchard and not enough time for blogging!

wow for some reason I thought I had all month to do this and I stared today in hopes to finish the post in a day or two. THEN I SAW THE DATE! yikes
Well mine is up
