My mother is an artist, I'm in the process of raising an artist and even Andrew was pretty good at doodling Van Halen's VH logo on his Pee Chees in high school. But me? Not so much but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a fine line when I see it.
Sarah Jane Studios' tag line is "Illustrating Childhood," and I don't know that I could offer a better description. Each of her prints are simple and elegant, each a little tribute to the quiet pleasures of young lives. They have a subtle vintage quality, and though I'm no expert her composition remind me of Maurice Sendak (One is Johnny) or Ernest H. Shepherd's Winnie the Pooh illustrations, the colors and innocence remind me of Beatrix Potter and the abundance of bunnies reminds me of one of my favorite childhood books, The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes--all great books and illustrators.
So yes, I'm a little nostalgic here, it all makes me want to redecorate a child's room with Sarah Jane's work all over the walls. The prints are pen and ink or charcoal with digital coloring on fine-quality archival paper and each is signed and dated.
Now here's the wonderful part: for each print you order through Friday November 9th, Sarah Jane Studios will give you a second print free. Just type "Scribbit" in the notes to sender field when you order. The only trouble is you might have a hard time choosing only two I love the elephants, I love the bunnies, the new Christmas stuff is adorable and I don't know how you could pass up the Halloween print below. And to one lucky winner Sarah Jane Studios is offering a print of your choice which means that somehow you will have to choose.
Good luck and thank you Sarah Jane Studios.

Dang, two bad I already ordered two prints earlier this week! That's okay though, I totally love them. And would gladly pay full price all over again. They really are simply beautiful.
These pictures are really lovely! I'd enter your competition, but I am in Australia.

I've been to her website and the prints are adorable. Like you said, it would be hard to pick just one.
I like the one at the top -- the little girl pushing the carriage with the rabbit in it. Believe it or not, our first pet rabbit was mellow enough that we could do that.
These take me back to the sweet innocence of classic Whinnie Poo stories and songs. Beautiful!
Those are absolutely precious! Great find.

I like the Halloween print. It's sweet and soft.
I hadn't thought about pee-chee folders, erm since high school. You really took me back. Talk about a piece of American school history. :)
These are so precious. The artist is certainly very talented, and her illustrations remind me so much of antique school books for early readers!
