January's Write-Away Winner

Thank you to all who joined us this month for the Write-Away Contest and thanks to our guest judge, Robin at Around the Island for judging the 33 submissions--there are some really excellent entries--all about "The Great Escape." I'll be interviewing Robin later this week for those who would like to get to know her and her fabulous blog better.

. . . And the winner is:

Lilibeth at Keeping Up with The Great Escape

Lilibeth began her blog last June (mostly to allow her to comment on her daughter's blog, Babysteps) but started posting in earnest last December. A mother, grandmother, school teacher and pastor's wife she may be new to blogging but obviously not new to writing. Congratulations!

Honorable Mentions:

Melissa Markham at Melissa's Idea Garden with The Great Escape
Mommytime at Mommy's Martini with Have Ticket, Will Travel
Angie at Seven Clown Circus with The Great Escape

Did anyone else catch the finale of the Amazing Race? Did you see all that Anchorage footage? It made Andrew and I want to go climb a glacier for sure and when the team jumped into the cab to go to Ship Creek boat launch and had the cabbie who didn't speak English I knew they were doomed. "He'll never find that!" we were squealing.

Anyway, it's the first time I can recall where I liked all three of the final teams and was happy with whoever won. Ron and Christine were frustrating earlier in the game but by the end I couldn't help but like her dad, he was so good to want to be better. Great race.

Congratulations to Barbara of Hamden, New York and Becky of Provo, Utah for winning this week's giveaway. They've walked away with plenty of goodies from Jamie's Painting and Design.

I have been! My dad was in the Navy for 20 years, so we moved around A LOT and now I love to travel.

You have an award waiting for you over at my blog...

This AR was one of the best finales ever. I liked all three teams, too, but have been rooting for TK and Rachel for a long time. I like a fair finale where someone doesn't miss out because of something like getting lost or a traffic jam or something.

I thought the two older guys who have trouble climbing up that glacier, but they did great. And I was really glad to see the efforts the dad was making to improve his reactions to his daughter.

We are Amazing Race junkies too. We were so glad that Jen and Nate came in last, last week, we didn't like them at all. That is the only TV show we watch together as a family, the rest is PBS sometimes and movies...

Yeah, Lilibeth!

I'm expecting something delicious from the cookbook you won in a few weeks. =)

I was so happy that TK and Rachel won that I cried...literally.

This is the first time in a long time that I have liked all the teams in the finale....

But now what? Oh yeah...Big Brother...

I was soooo happy that TK and Rachel won! I had been rooting for them from the get-go! I really liked how they played the game, even when they were frustrated and getting behind... thank goodness for non-elimination rounds! Whoot!
