East Meets West

Okay maybe I'm a sucker but this is brilliant, just brilliant.

You know if the Chinese had come up with this idea we'd all be speaking Chinese and eating rice for breakfast because they'd be ruling the world.

As it is I'm a doofus when it comes to chopsticks.

Which is probably a good thing because it slows down my eating--kind of like a speed bump when it comes to scooping calories into my mouth.

I should use them at every meal.

Great invention! My husband used to wind a rubber band around chopsticks for the kids. Might take you up on the suggestion to use them as a diet aid!

If I had some of these, maybe my daughter would stop laughing at me when we order Japanese. After I've dropped about half of my meal, I switch to a tried-n-true fork!

This is a marvelous invention. I use clothespins for a variety of purposes around the house. In fact, I think of clothespins the way the father in The Big Fat Greek Wedding thought of windex. I LOVE clothespins. Therefore, chopssticks that resemble clothespins, well, what a remarkable invention in my book! Speaking of books, your downloadable book is very good.

Haha nooodles can be tricky with chopsticks! You know what they say - eat a bowl of rice using chopsticks, and you'll be a pro (picking up every single rice grain one by one will be plenty of practice).

I wish they'd invented these BEFORE I "mastered", um strike that, "learned" how to use the old ones.

This is amazing! I hold on so tight that I frequently have to rest my hands because they start to cramp with the effort.

Yes those are fun. I once bought some plastic ones that were joined at the top [a bit like tweezers] with animal heads for the children......still no joy.
Cheers

Oh my. I could definately use those. I try with the real chopsticks... really I do. But I have to concentrate so hard, I never really enjoy the food as much as I should. I am soo not coordinated though when it comes to stuff like that...

OK. I want one of those now.

I'm pretty good at using chopsticks, but that there is pure genius.

So glad I found your blog! Are there rules posted somewhere for your monthly writing contests? I think I would like to enter one.

very, very funny! I definately need those! I am always relieved to unwrap my fork at a chinese restaurant--I just can't hack it!

That is a really fun idea. :) And the only way I would be able to use chopsticks! :)

How cool! I've always wished I could use chopsticks. Those are the next best thing!

How funny! Wish I'd had those when we were in China. The Tongginator had never seen a fork before - she completely rejected food served via a fork. She also wouldn't take anything from a spoon unless it was soup or ice cream. You think it's difficult feeding yourself using chopsticks? Ha! Trying feeding an 11 month old with them. LOL.

Now how could you possibly be a doofus with chopsticks when you can knit???

Why didn't I think of that?

Um, I need those. how do I make them or where do I find them?

I'll always remember the college friend who taught me to use chopsticks. He was also the first person I knew who could master the Rubic's Cube.
I only learned the chopsticks.

But where do you get these brilliant things? My girls are learning how to use chopsticks, but they're used to the restaurant hookup with the little piece of paper and the rubber band... Of course, their doofus mom doesn't know how to rig the chopsticks when we're home, so eating sushi always turns into a huge ordeal, particularly with the 6-year-old, who thinks she can do everything... until it's time to use chopsticks.

I want two of these!

Sorry I'm slow responding here--Wednesdays are busy days around here.

I didn't make these but it appears to me they can be done by inserting a clothespin spring between the sticks. I'm guessing too that square sticks would be easier to use.

I need to find those for my kids. There's nothing like working for your food--that's why pomegranates are so satisfying!

That is cool. I could use a pair, for sure.

I tried the chopstick thing and didn't get far. Back to the fork for me
